General Engineering Apprenticeship - Cyber pathway

Location: London

Are you looking for an employer who will sponsor you through your qualifications, whilst providing valuable and exciting on-the-job experience within a global, innovative and industry leading organisation?

This exciting General Engineering Apprenticeship will develop your skills in both systems design and hardware engineering. You will rotate between the disciplines being responsible for the production of designs, design estimates, design programs and design work packages for bids, services and projects, as well as the designing and implementation of the engineering solutions in accordance with programme and product requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop your understanding of Engineering through structured learning and on-the-job training
• Deliver tasks on time and to the required quality
• Work as a team-player asking for guidance and direction where necessary
• Develop knowledge and skills within the engineering discipline
• Effectively communicate engineering issues related to own tasks

Degree Apprenticeship Programme:

Through our degree apprenticeship, you will be getting to understand engineering from the ground up with the help of one of the biggest and best names in the industry. As an Engineering Apprentice - Cyber pathway, you will be studying towards a Digital & Technology Solutions Apprenticeship at NorthEastern University - based in London Colney (Herts).

This comprehensive programme includes core and specialist courses that are invaluable for anyone wishing to upskill or enter a role within Digital and Technology Solutions.

Apprentices will learn how to successfully deliver technology-enabled solutions to customers in a range of areas, including software, business and systems analysis, cybersecurity, data analysis and network infrastructure.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. A self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Hitachi Rail. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to achieve a degree qualification.

Entry Requirements:

• A Level BBB including Mathematics and/or Physical Sciences (120 UCAS points) or;
• BTEC National Diploma DDM, including Level 3 Mathematics and Physical Sciences (128 UCAS points) or;
• EAL Technical Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies, D, including: Further Engineering Mathematics; and other options relevant to Electrical, Mechanical or Civil engineering or;
• Access to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions and 21 Merits, with at least half the course in Mathematics and Physical Science subjects (122 UCAS points) or;
• Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 120 UCAS points and including Mathematics and Physical Sciences
• Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).

Closing date: Our applications will close at 11.59pm on Saturday 31st May 2025, this is the only time we will be accepting applications this year.

The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.
