Job Purpose and Overview

The Cyber Security Engineer I is responsible for protecting the network, systems, and team members from cyber-attacks. This involves researching, piloting, and implementing upcoming IT trends, creating contingency plans, reviewing suspicious activities, reporting security breaches, and educating the rest of the company on security measures. This is an entry-level position that would be supported by level II and level III engineers as well as a manager.  

 

Work Environment & Travel: This is a hybrid role with requirements to work on-site at our Home Office in Jackson, Michigan, with up to 10% travel. To be considered for this role, you must reside in Jackson, MI, or surrounding areas.

 

What will you do as a Cyber Security Engineer I at Dawn Foods? 

  • Assist and support cybersecurity solutions for organizational systems and products that comply with all applicable security policies and standards. 
  • Work with IT and internal and external business partners to ensure that security is factored into the evaluation, selection, installation, and configuration process of hardware and software. 
  • Analyze and make recommendations to improve network, system, and application architectures
  • Examine network, server, and application logs to identify trends and security incidents. 
  • Assist in reviewing and updating cybersecurity policies, architectures, and standards.
  • Assist in responding to audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Investigate new technologies to determine their usefulness and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Assist with legal investigations and compliance reporting.
  • Review with 3rd party vendor solutions for risks and reporting.
  • Assist with cybersecurity-related training and testing.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to a high-paced IT environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. 

 

What Does It Take to be a Cyber Security Engineer I at Dawn Foods?  

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.   

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required
  • An associate’s degree in computer science, cyber defense/security, information technology, or a similar focus is strongly preferred. Will accept 3 years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in cybersecurity, desktop support, or networking
  • Experience in troubleshooting IT solutions is preferred 
  • Security or other certifications (Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft, ISC2), working towards obtaining, or being willing to obtain, is preferred
  • Experience or have taken classes in computer programming or scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar) is preferred
  • Experience working in teams and collaborating
  • Customer Service experience is preferred

Compensation

$67,020 - $103,210 with bonus eligibility
