Duracell has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Test Engineering Leader to lead our test team in breaking and validating new products and features in our expanding IoT offerings. We are looking for a seasoned Test Engineering Leader with a specialty in improving solutions for IoT RF-enabled SoC hardware platforms, diverse sensor integration, IoT systems, along with mobile app and portal validation. This role seeks an individual with expert experience in testing, system troubleshooting, test strategy development and creating a strong culture of ownership, trust and collaboration. In this role, you will lead a team of test engineers in the design, development and execution of test plans to support the Test and QA functions. You will mentor our junior members and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable IoT solutions that meet and exceed the needs of our customers. You are a proactive individual who considers yourself an ethical hacker, focused on verifying products that developers submit for examination. You take great pleasure in collaborating closely with skilled and considerate developers. You are a very tactical and will roll up your sleeves at a moment’s notice to write scripts while working to build your teams capabilities and culture.
- Lead a team of test engineers and actively contribute to product development activities, including test strategy, test automation strategy, scripting, test execution and feature definition.
- Establish and evolve Agile processes that support in sprint and n+1 sprint testing.
- Evaluate and create feature requirements to enhance usability, testability, observability and traceability in the lab and in the field.
- Perform root cause analyses cross-functionally and identify preventative quality processes.
- Select/develop and deploy test tools to support automated testing and increase test coverage.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Establish test systems and networks to support the full system test including device testing with remote access.
- Demonstrate ability reading hardware schematics and using common debugging tools including scopes, logic analyzers, emulators, and signal generators.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks, effectively working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated and effective solutions.
- Plan and design lab infrastructure and oversee operation.
- Work with leadership to develop beta site plans and deployment strategy.
- Review team KPIs and improvement plans to achieve incremental improvement.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minium 10+ years of relevant experience in test engineering, with a strong emphasis on IoT systems data processing and associated communication protocols.
- 7+ years of experience testing embedded systems.
- 4+ years of experience testing cloud-based systems.
- Experience with Appium, Selenium, Robot Framework or similar.
- Proven track record of building, mentoring and leading test teams.
- 4+ years developing processes and implementing metrics management.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Additional programming language skills (Python, C++, etc.) beneficial for IoT development and data analysis.
- Experience coding for battery operated hardware designs with tight power constraints.
- Previous work on large-scale, high-impact firmware projects.
- Familiarity with security protocols and best practices for IoT devices.
- Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
