ABOUT THE TEAM

The Cloud Engineering Team, as part of the Security and Technology Foundations, plays a pivotal role in enabling a secure, scalable, and efficient cloud environment for the entire organization. We are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our entire cloud infrastructure—primarily in AWS, with exposure to Azure and GCP. Beyond day-to-day operations, we lead innovation in cloud architecture, mentors other engineers, stays ahead of evolving cloud technologies, and actively collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with product and business goals. 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Joining our European team as a  Staff Cloud Engineer will have a lasting impact on millions of SMBs worldwide by shaping the future of our all-in-one Financial Business Platform and managing Tide’s Infrastructure on a global basis. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud computing platforms and technologies, with specific experience with Kubernetes, AWS, ArgoCD, APIs, containers, cloud security, Agile ways of working, and hands-on coding. The role will also focus on leading and mentoring other engineers, while architecting and further developing our cloud-native platform.

 

  • Design, build, and support reliable cloud infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Keep current with developments in cloud platforms and tools.
  • Diagnose and fix issues related to infrastructure and networking.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure infrastructure fits business and product needs.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 10+ years of experience in distributed computing and familiarity with building Cloud infrastructure in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with a variety of cloud computing platforms and technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Ability to automate - Infrastructure as Code; we use Terraform.
  • Hands-on coding in Python, Java or Go and experience in pair programming.
  • Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps as a deployment methodology.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, containers, cloud security.
  • Good at breaking down and solving complex infrastructure problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work independently when needed, but know the value of a tight, collaborative team.

Cloud:

  • EKS/Kubernetes for platform running
  • GitHub with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines
  • ArgoCD
  • Helm
  • Terraform/Terragrunt

Frontend Technologies:

  • Angular 15+ (including NgRx and Angular Material) or React
  • Storybook for live component documentation

Backend and Database:

  • Java
  • Python
  • PostgreSQL

Content Management:

  • Contentful for dynamic content provision

Monitoring and Analytics:

  • DataDog
  • Semgrep

  • Gross monthly salary between 7400 and 9250 EUR, depending on skills and experience
