The Security Analyst plays a vital role in our Security Operations Center (SOC), participating in the detection, analysis, and response to cybersecurity incidents. This position requires experience in security event triage, incident response procedures, malware analysis, security tools, and the use of playbooks within our SIEM (Microsoft Sentinel) environment. The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of the evolving threat landscape and is skilled in mitigating risks to protect our organization's critical assets.
This role is instrumental in the frontline protection of our organization from the ever-evolving cyber threat landscape and is under the direct supervision of the Manager, Security Operations and Incident Response.
You'll do:
- Respond to and triage security incidents
- Prioritize alerts based on severity
- Investigate significant incidents with the Security Team
- Perform incident response activities
- Conduct forensic analysis to determine root cause and scope
- Document and preserve evidence
- Execute containment, eradication, and recovery strategies
- Prepare incident reports with recommendations
- Perform malware analysis to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs)
- Utilize malware analysis tools for threat intelligence
- Hunt for vulnerabilities and misconfigurations
- Provide feedback on security playbooks in Microsoft Sentinel
- Leverage Microsoft Sentinel's capabilities
- Share knowledge and best practices
- Collaborate with the security team to improve processes
- Develop internal knowledge bases, playbooks, and training materials
- Recommend policies for device hardening and secure information exchange
- Identify opportunities for security posture improvement and automation
- Stay updated with security trends and technologies
You have:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in relevant fields or equivalent work experience
- Desired certifications: AZ-900, Security+, GISF, GSEC, GCIH, GCED
- Understanding of cybersecurity threats and incident response methodologies
- Experience in malware analysis, forensic investigations, and security tool administration
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Good understanding of Windows OS, Windows Domains, and M365
- Scripting in Powershell, JavaScript, or Python is a plus
- Experience with SIEM solutions like Microsoft Sentinel and zero-trust platforms like Zscaler
- Experience with UNIX and Windows OS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience with cloud security is a plus
What We Offer:
- Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 may vary depending on location, education, and relevant experience.
