Job Description

 

Peraton is seeking an experienced senior Site Systems Security Administrator to join our national intelligence program that delivers engineering, application development, deployment, operations, upgrades and sustainment of products and services to achieve our client’s global missions. 

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Implement and maintain security measures across IT systems, to include firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and other security protocols to protect against cyber threats such as malware, viruses, hacking attempts and data breaches. 
  • Manage and maintain the security infrastructure of Information Technology (IT) systems and lab environments, to include hardware, software, and network devices to ensure configuration, updates, and patches implementation to address security vulnerabilities and compliance requirements. 
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data and information assets. 
  • Monitor security logs and alerts generated by security tools and systems, such as intrusion detection systems and antivirus software, to identify and investigate security incidents, anomalies, and potential threats. 
  • Install, configure, update, patch, and troubleshoot system security hardware, software, network devices and equipment. 
  • Investigate security incidents and breaches, to include analyzing root causes, assessing the impact, and implementing corrective actions and remediation measures to prevent recurrence and minimize damage. 
  • Respond to security threats and incidents in a timely and effective manner, coordinating with other IT professionals, department heads, and senior management to contain the threat, mitigate risks, and restore normal operations. 
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls, identify gaps and vulnerabilities, and recommend improvements to strengthen the organization's security posture. 
  • Provide security awareness training and education to end-users and customers, raising awareness about security best practices, threats, and risks, and promoting a culture of security awareness and compliance. 
  • Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies and make recommendations to continually strengthen the system security posture. 
  • Establish and manage security protocols for user accounts, network, system, and equipment access and maintenance. 
  • Oversee the conduct of system security backup and recovery tasks. 
  • Implement operational and technical security controls. 
  • Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability. 
  • Maintain baseline system security in accordance with policies. 
  • Manage system security/ server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability and recoverability. 
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations and program management Leadership to assess security risks, establish risk mitigation security controls, and implement best practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect against emerging threats. 
  • Develop, implement, enforce, and maintain System Security documentation to include security policies, procedures, test cases, test results, security issue resolutions, security performance analysis, and user guidelines/ instructions, to include defining user access controls, password policies and data encryption standards. 
  • 10% Travel may be required within the National Capital Region (NCR) on an as needed basis for customer or corporate requirements.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Active Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with ability to pass a counter-intelligence scope (CI) Poly clearance. 
  • Minimum of 12 years relevant experience with bachelor’s degree or 10 with a master’s or 7 with PhD.  
  • Proficiency in computer systems, networks and cybersecurity principles. 
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity technologies and practices, including network security, endpoint security, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and security incident response.  
  • Currently active Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Security + Certification. 
  • Systems Administration of Windows Server and Operating system, Unix, or Linux and/or database skillset. 
  • Performing snapshots, disaster recovery, performance tuning. 
  • Installation, hardening, patching. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and Tier 1 communication skills. 
  • Experience developing and maintaining security documentation. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance. 
  • Degree(s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity. 
  • Other Certifications for security professionals: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate, and/or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) 
  • Other DoD 8570.01-M IAT I or DoD 8570.01-M IAT II certification. 
  • Subject Matter Expert in cryptography such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and/or Transport Layer Security (TLS). 

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  

This Position requires an Active TS/SCI and the ability to obtain a CI Poly, US Citizenship is required to hold this clearance.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
