About the Role

The IT & Information Security Director will lead best practice ICT and Security practices across Moodle’s global operations. You will lead the management of our internal systems, create and implement our global security strategy and operations, and champion open-source principles. This role is key to ensuring the resilience, security and scalability of our technology ecosystem, fostering innovation and aligning internal technical initiatives with Moodle’s overarching objectives.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

Most days in this role usually involve a mix of:

• Developing and implementing Moodle’s internal technology strategies and roadmap that supports our long term goals and open source principles
• Driving the delivery of key initiatives to transform Moodle’s internal technology, enhancing collaboration, productivity, and employee experience
• Overseeing internal IT infrastructure, systems, and collaboration tools to ensure efficiency, reliability, and security
• Developing and executing robust cybersecurity strategies to protect company assets and data, conducting regular security assessments and establishing security policies, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations (e.g. GDPR, SOC2)
• Overseeing information security documentation, as well as certification and continuous compliance initiatives for SOC2, ISO and FEDRAMP
• Implementing risk management strategies to ensure operational resilience and regulatory adherence
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of globally distributed IT and security professionals, fostering innovation and excellence
• Managing the technology budget, technology procurement, and vendor relationships to optimise resource allocation and improve security posture

We’d love to meet you

Especially if you can tell us about your:

• Experience in global IT leadership roles, with a focus on technology strategy, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and compliance (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
• Strong understanding of, and appreciation for, open source technologies and the utilisation of these in a corporate environment
• Proven ability to align technology initiatives with business goals and drive innovation
• Experience managing budgets, vendors, and technology procurement
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
