The Network Engineer is a key technical resource responsible for the design, implementation, and management of NorthStar Memorial Group’s enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, cloud networks, and cloud-based telephony systems. This role leads to end-to-end project delivery—spanning engineering, deployment, and vendor coordination—while ensuring network performance, security, and reliability across all locations. Collaborating closely with IT teams, business units, and external partners, the Network Engineer plays a vital role in driving scalable, modern network solutions that support the organization’s operational and strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage implementations for office firewalls, data center HA Firewalls, VPNs, WAFs, IoT networks, ISP upgrades, office builds, and other infrastructure projects
- Design and manage implementation of all projects related to cloud hosted voice solutions, including cloud phone systems, contact center solutions, onsite analog telephony
- Serve as subject matter expert for telecom infrastructure – hosted VoIP, Cloud Contact Center solutions, and analog solutions
- Ensure all systems are designed, implemented, and maintained following information security best practices and regulatory (PCI, Cyber 7, ICR, CCPA) compliance.
- Research new technologies and solutions, and make appropriate recommendations in support of IT initiatives
- Manage all projects and vendors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within expected costs
- Keep all project plans updated with the current status, and provide status reports as required
- Design networks that integrate our enterprise applications with cloud services to ensure seamless delivery of data to all users
- Design, maintain, and act as a subject matter expert for security systems and vulnerability management – IDS, firewalls, WAF, vulnerability scanners, remediation
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in network and telecom administration and architecture
- Bachelor's degree or Master’s preferred; equivalent certifications or combination of education and experience may be considered in place of degree
- Experience working with cloud-based architecture
- Experience working with and managing network infrastructures such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, SonicWALL, Meraki, HP/Aruba, or Cisco
- High level of experience with TCP/IP, WAN/LAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, and firewalls
- High level of experience with implementing and troubleshooting telecom solutions including VoIP, PBX, and IVR
- Experience working with field technicians and remote users
- Experience with Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory
- Experience managing vendor and supplier relationships, contracts, etc.
