Please note that this position offers a hybrid work schedule (i.e., blend of working onsite and remote) after completing probation (six months).

As a Cybersecurity Analyst at Colorado Springs Utilities, you will provide Level I support for our Security Operations Center team, including monitoring security tools and systems for potential threats and attacks, assisting with investigations into alerts, analyzing logs to identify potential security issues, and assisting with the configuration and management of security tools. This is the first step in our cybersecurity career path, with potential growth and advancement opportunities into Senior and Specialist-level roles!

What Else Will You be Doing?

• Performing comprehensive monitoring and analysis of system and application logs (e.g., network and application firewalls, authentication, IDA/IPS) using centralized logging and vulnerability assessment results
• Conducting proactive threat hunting to search for undetected cyber threats within the network and reporting findings to enhance security measures
• Assisting with security reviews and providing consultation and collaboration on security compliance related projects
• Generating and maintaining incident reports and documenting the details of identified security incidents
• Reviewing security hardware, software, and equipment purchases for compliance with our policies
• Conducting initial investigations and triaging of events and alerts while escalating to senior analysts as required, and providing feedback to senior analysts to assist in the detection engineering of security alerts
• Working tickets from our ITSM tool and fulfilling requests within their predefined SLA
• Investigating and reviewing user-reported and system-detected phishing threats, and performing operations related to our Phishing Awareness and Phishing Simulation platform
• Managing, administering, and reporting on the effectiveness of Security Awareness Training
• Participating as a member of the Cyber Security Incident Response Team and on-call rotation

Who You Are

• Demonstrated cybersecurity knowledge and/or expertise is valued
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field is valued
• Possession of a CompTIA Security+, Network+, and/or ISC2 CC (Certified in Cybersecurity) Certifications are valued
• Experience using Splunk or Defender is valued
