Information Security/Privacy Analyst I

Fortuna is seeking an enthusiastic and analytical Information Security/Privacy Analyst I to join a fast-paced Security Operations Center (SOC) team. This role will support the Center for Information Operations and Cybersecurity Coordination (CIOCC) in analyzing and responding to security events using various data sources and security tools. WORKSITE: 11601 Landsdowne St, Rockville, MD
WORK SCHEDULE: 1st Shift (6am-4pm), 2nd Shift (1pm-11pm), or 3rd Shift (9pm-6am) - Final shift determined by staffing needs
COMPENSATION: $30.00-$32.00 per hour

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Analyze and respond to security events and incidents from systems such as SIEM, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Endpoint Security Solutions, and NAC

• Monitor security alerts and logs from various tools including Splunk or other SIEMs

• Assess threats, investigate anomalies, and escalate incidents as necessary

• Maintain detailed documentation of all activities and responses

• Communicate clearly and professionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• 1-3 years of experience in a security operations center OR recent graduate with relevant cybersecurity certifications

• Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, or UNIX systems

• Proficiency in using Splunk or similar SIEM tools

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industry certifications such as CSIS, CEH, CSTA, CSTP, GCFE, CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, or GPEN

• Experience with IDS log analysis and packet capture tools

• Understanding of protocols like FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, DAP
