The Cyber Prevention Section informs measures to defeat adversaries upstream of an incident, improves system security confidence, and assures the cyber security operations center (CSOC).

 

The all-source CTI team delivers timely, relevant and accurate intelligence products tailored to the intended audience, analysing the intent, capability and opportunity of cyber adversaries. Intelligence acts as a service to approved clients by reporting on agreed Intelligence Requirements (IRs). This supports decision making at Strategic, Operational, and Tactical levels.

 

The Manager, Cyber Technical oversees the production, reporting and quality assurance of technical intelligence products. These functions encompass Requirements and Collection Management for technical reporting; intelligence automation; and technology administration. The position reports to the Assistant Director, Cyber Threat Intelligence and is responsible for managing the delivery of commercial technical threat intelligence automation services.

Our ideal candidate

 

  • Able to produce concise and accurate written intelligence products
  • Advanced knowledge of information technologies, data interrogation, research capabilities and threat assessment methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience in specialist technical analysis, including cyber and open source
  • Experience in supervision, mentoring and coaching in an intelligence environment
  • 3+ years experience in a cyber security/intelligence or technical environment, with at least 1 year in an intelligence related role.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Manage the delivery of commercial technical threat intelligence services from approved providers
  • Develop and implement technical automation of processes and procedures within the Cyber Threat Intelligence team, including management of the Threat Intelligence Platform
  • Apply knowledge of strategic intelligence issues, emerging intelligence issues and understanding of team capabilities to develop and modify team work plans and contribute to section and branch work plans
  • Identify, communicate and provide solutions to the Director on workforce planning issues to ensure section capability and business continuity
  • Support team members to prepare and deliver senior level briefings at short notice and develop their ability to communicate intelligence tradecraft nuances to ensure the complexity of an issue is well understood by others.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
