Sainsburys is seeking a skilled individual will be responsible for completing, in a timely and professional manner, requests from individuals exercising their data protection rights and/ or complaining about how the Sainsbury’s Group has handled their personal data. A Privacy Team Advisor will advise the business on privacy and data protection matters, working within the Privacy Team. The advisor will handle highly sensitive customer and colleague data as part of processing a request and manage complex data complaints with oversight from the Privacy Team Manager and Head of Data Protection.

What you need to do

· Respond to customer queries via emails and letters, and fulfil Data Subject Requests in a timely manner ensuring the correct procedures and responses are used for the relevant queries

· Apply redactions and use initiative for multiple documents and CCTV to ensure we protect the rights and freedoms of third parties and other individuals for complex access requests

· Case manage multiple and complex requests from data subjects, from the start to the final disclosure, ensuring the data subject is kept updated throughout

· Manage the Privacy inbox, ensuring all emails are responded to within our SLA and escalating any relevant requests or complaints to the Privacy Team Manager or DPO

· Co-ordinating departments across the Sainsbury’s Group in order to provide comprehensive responses to data subjects in relation to their rights requests and complaints.

· Work with other Sainsbury’s Group departments for data related complaints or requests, including Sainsbury’s & Argos Executive resolutions and other customer management contact centres.

· Advise Sainsbury’s Group colleagues about data rights and privacy related complaints ensuring the company adheres to data protection laws.

· Identify opportunities for Privacy process improvements and take initiative to work with the Data Governance team to influence change, including technical improvements.

· Identifying and where appropriate implementing changes to continuously improve the DSR management system and other DSR systems and processes, such as the CCTV redaction tool and equipment.

· Investigating and resolving technical issues arising in the DSR processes.

· Liaising with different system extractors throughout the Group to find data subject's personal information within systems and maintaining this process

 

What you need to know and show

· Have a good understanding of DSAR workflows

· Must have at least 2 years' experience working in a data protection or privacy-based role.

· Process focused with a clear understanding as to control compliance.

· Familiarity with data protection legislation such as the Data Protection Act 2018 / UK GDPR and all the data subject rights an individual can exercise.

· Ability to influence various stakeholders to drive change.

· Ability to work independently to deliver to deadlines and achieve milestones, but also a team player.

· Structured, organised, process driven and outcome oriented.

· Strong customer management skills and ability to view queries from a customer perspective.

· Personable, credible, with excellent communication skills and the gravitas to influence others.

· Passionate, keen and energetic with demonstrable enthusiasm and commitment.

· Must have excellent attention to detail.

· Ability to prioritise and willing to work flexibly to support the requirements of the team
