A Day in the LifeThe preferred working location for this role is the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota; however, the individual may also work from another US-based Medtronic facility. Additional work locations may include:

• Lafayette, Colorado • North Haven, Connecticut
• Northridge/Irvine, California • Memphis, Tennessee
• Boston/Mansfield, Massachusetts • Eatontown, New Jersey

As a Cybersecurity Specialist – Data Collections, your daily activities revolve around the meticulous handling and management of digital evidence and eDiscovery processes. You will work closely with Legal, IT, and Compliance teams to address data collection requests accurately, timely, and professionally. Utilizing tools such as Nuix, EnCase, Harvesters, FTK, Microsoft Purview, and other Microsoft administrative tools, you will gather digital evidence from computers, servers, and online storage media.

Your expertise will be pivotal in conducting advanced searches and collecting and analyzing data for legal matters and investigations, while ensuring adherence to the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) throughout the eDiscovery lifecycle. Maintaining open lines of communication with legal team members is essential as you handle requests involving all stages of the case lifecycle. Your role will also involve transferring collected evidence to internal customers, third-party vendors, and external law firms, all while strictly maintaining confidentiality and ensuring data security.

In addition to your core responsibilities, you will support a flexible schedule to accommodate urgent requests and engage in external projects to refine processes and methodologies. Staying current with advancements in eDiscovery technology and legal requirements is crucial, as is participating in relevant meetings and conferences. Your problem-solving skills will be vital in troubleshooting and resolving any eDiscovery-related issues that arise. Through your work, you will not only ensure the secure and efficient handling of digital evidence but also contribute to the continuous improvement of eDiscovery practices, supporting Medtronic's mission with dedication and precision.

  • Resolve data collection requests accurately, timely, and professionally.
  • Gather digital evidence from computers, servers, and other electronic or online storage media using tools such as Nuix, EnCase, Harvesters, FTK, Microsoft Purview, and other Microsoft administrative tools.
  • Perform advanced searching, collection, and data analysis using various technology tools.
  • Provide expertise in all aspects of digital evidence identification, preservation, and processing in accordance with the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).
  • Manage requests involving all aspects of the eDiscovery lifecycle, including data collection, processing, review, and production.
  • Provide training and support to Legal and IT teams on issues related to litigation, eDiscovery processes and tools, and document-retention policies and best practices.
  • Generate and maintain complete and accurate documentation to support formal litigation.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with legal team members throughout the entire case lifecycle.
  • Transfer collected evidence to internal customers, third-party vendors, and external law firms.
  • Strictly maintain the confidentiality of all matters involved.
  • Support a flexible schedule to cover urgent requests.
  • Engage in external projects periodically to enhance and refine processes and methodologies.
  • Stay current with developments in eDiscovery technology and legal requirements.
  • Participate in eDiscovery-related meetings and conferences.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of eDiscovery data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve eDiscovery-related issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and 2+ years of experience     

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strongly Preferred:
    • High attention to detail with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with legal, IT, and other stakeholders
    • Knowledge of ServiceNow
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team across different time zones
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in preservation, collection, scoping, and review of data from a broad array of repositories and systems
  • Experience with eDiscovery tools such as RelativityOne, Nuix, EnCase, FTK, Microsoft Purview, and other Microsoft administrative websites
  • Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and electronically stored information (ESI)
  • Scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
  • Data analytics knowledge
  • Experience with SQL, PowerBI, and Snowflake

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$89,600.00 - $134,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
