Available to travel frequently in our sites in Caguas, Barceloneta and Arecibo.

The Senior Specialist Information Systems Operations is responsible for managing and overseeing the IT Infrastructure area across multiple businesses, divisions, and domains (commercial operations, manufacturing facilities, warehouses and distribution centers, 3PL/TPM) within the area of responsibility. This role ensures the stability, security, and scalability of all IT systems and networks. It guarantees a seamless integration of IT solutions and alignment of IT strategies with business objectives. Represents IT in executive decision-making forums.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Responsibilities and Business Alignment:
Align Infrastructure Strategy: Develop and implement infrastructure strategies that align with the organization's vision, goals, and overall IT strategy. Evaluate and pursue initiatives based on their fit with strategic objectives.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement across the organization through the development, implementation, and maintenance of process improvement programs.
Develops and maintains a Country IT Infrastructure Roadmap, aligning IT investments with business priorities. Understands and contributes to the business unit’s strategy and translates business strategy into an aligned IT strategy and portfolio of programs, projects, and applications.
Customer Relationship Management (Stakeholder and Business Relationship Management): Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers, reinforced by regular communication on project status, issue management, service delivery, and associated strategies.
IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance
Ensures compliance with corporate IT policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, local cybersecurity laws).
Participates in IT risk management and cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring proactive threat management, risk assessments, and data protection compliance.
Works with legal and compliance teams to address data privacy and security risks.
Supports and enforces audit compliant policies and standards. Act as primary contact for Country IT Audit.
IT Operations and Service Delivery
Oversees the delivery of IT solutions, ensuring robust infrastructure and digital services that support business needs. Organizes, supports, and operates infrastructure services that are aligned with the standards for Abbott’s IT Strategy Platform; includes business case preparation and the development of communication and marketing plans.
Disaster Recovery: Develop and update datacenter recovery plans and assist with the development of system recovery strategies and plans. Ensure correct data backup execution when applicable. Coordinates the execution of disaster recovery tests with divisions, BTS and Managed Service provider contacts.
Security Implementation: Implement security measures for complex voice/data network technologies, computing platforms, collaboration/messaging platforms, and business applications based on provided procedures.
Policy Compliance Monitoring: Monitor policy compliance with managed services providers and oversee the execution of established business-critical processes and procedures.
System Installation and Testing: Ensure the execution of installation and testing procedures for enterprise-wide systems, including complex voice/data network technologies, computing platforms, collaboration/messaging platforms, and business applications.
Establishes and maintains partnerships with third-party IT service providers to enhance IT service delivery.
Engages with external partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies to support IT initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Supervise direct and indirect employees and contractors.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in technology systems and/or complimentary business degree/major degree in computer science, business administration.
Minimum 8 years - experience in Information Technology, preferably in the health care industry.
Minimum 5 years:
Interpersonal Skills, Communication.
Ability to communicate at multiple levels, internally and externally.
Advanced in English and Spanish.
Excellent written, oral and multimedia communication skills.
Technical and Analytical Skills.
Must be excellent at managing service providers within Division IT and BTS.
Knowledge of standard computing environments (Business Systems, Windows, Office communication, ERP, LAN/WAN, network and system security).
Basic understanding of accounting. Project management.
History of working independently, balancing both strategic and tactical priorities for the business, while creating a vision of excellence for a technical department.
Experience leading teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams.
Able to lead and collaborate with cross-site, cross-functional teams across different areas to manage outcomes of a technical project.
Knowledge of financial planning, both capital and discretionary expense, budgeting and execution while monitoring a project performance and adjusting constraints to meet project goals.
Preferred qualifications:
Licenses and Certifications: ITIL, CITM, ITMLP, PMI/PMP, CISA, CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, CCIE, CCNA
MBA is a plus.
Experience in medical devices, health care, nutritional products, laboratory diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or similar industries (preferred).
Experience in medical device manufacturing processes and clean room environments a plus.

The base pay for this position is
$74,700.00 – $149,300.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
