IT Area Lead - WB Tech EMEA Security -Can be based in an existing WB EMEA location

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring IT Area Lead within WB Tech EMEA to regionally steer the Information Technology Security and Cyber Risk (teams) within Wholesale Banking (WB) Tech EMEA region. You will functionally lead a diverse team of highly skilled IT Security (Chapter/Area) Leads across the region, collaborating closely with IT Security teams in ING Hub locations and with our WB Tech CISO function, to ensure our data and systems are secure. The role will ensure that across the region, there is understanding of ING IT security standards, with regional roadmaps for implementation to ensure ongoing alignment with standards across the regional scope and the subsequent achievement of our IT risk and security KPI’s and targets. You will act as a key stakeholder for WB Tech EMEA to our WB CISO and co-ordinate and support the delivery of IT security and risk reporting for the region.

You act as an ambassador for IT Risk to all stakeholders within or outside of WB Tech through frequent interaction and alignment. You are reporting hierarchically into WB Tech EMEA with functional reporting into the Wholesale Banking CISO.

The team

As IT Area Lead for WB Tech EMEA Security, it is expected that you’ll align with WB CISO to maintain a holistic overview of the Wholesale Banking EMEA entity and its constituent locations, to measure and determine status of and improvement scoping for IT Risk areas, harmonize the chosen approach, and steer the regional IT Risk & Cyber activities for WB Tech EMEA to safeguard IT Risk to remain within Risk Appetite.

The Wholesale Banking organisation has been designed with a global structure in mind, most of the products offered to our clients are benefitting from a global delivery and consumption model. There are also important local in-country IT teams within the region, responsible for the management of local IT assets and services and with accountability to their respective country management team overall, for IT services. There exists therefore, several IT security teams and engineers within the WB Tech EMEA organisation that will receive direction, steer and co-ordination from the IT Area Lead WB Tech EMEA Security. This is an important role ensuring our WB Tech EMEA alignment on matters related to IT Risk and Security with our WB CISO.

The role will sit in the leadership team of WB Tech EMEA.

Role and responsibilities

As IT Area Lead for WB Tech EMEA Security, you are at least:

• Providing direction, steer and co-ordination in alignment with WB CISO, to support WB Tech EMEA and its locations to maintain IT Risk posture within Risk Appetite (Strategic Roadmap/Path to Green)

• Steering improvements based on imminent threats, as well as evolving requirements from IT Risk & IT Security Standards

• Supporting the coordination of SOx testing for IT General Controls where applicable in the region

• You transform, scale and further professionalize the current way of working in the IT Security and Tech domain to a way of working that is applied bank-wide and more data driven (IT Risk Paradigm Shift)

• Overseeing the implementation of (new) IT Process Control Standards and setting priority for Wholesale Banking EMEA applications to consume strategic security services

• Steering on IT (entity) controls related to activities within the WB Tech EMEA teams

• Liaison and steering on IT Generic Controls testing as part of first line monitoring for WB Tech EMEA

• Steering on IT Sourcing contracts assessment on their IT & Cyber posture for WB tech EMEA

• Support response to regulatory and/or Third-Party request and/or questionaries within the WB Tech EMEA region

• You are responsible for engagement and development of people, steering on craftmanship to maintain a highly skilled and motivated workforce within WB Tech EMEA

• You build and maintain a strong working relationship with global business stakeholders in all Wholesale Banking EMEA areas, WB Tech colleagues and other members of the global and local Tech community, including vendors where appropriate

About you

• Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or IT Security

• Experienced senior IT Security lead or CISO manager with at least 10 years work experience in IT Risk and/or IT Security

• In possession of valid industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP etc.

• Proven deep knowledge of Risk Frameworks (e.g.: NIST CSF, ISF SoGP, ISO27001, etc) and corresponding IT (Process) Control Standards

• Visionary to guide the organisation to a more threat-based approach on IT Risk Management and staying on top of the trends as technology changes (e.g. cloud, containerization and GenAI)

• Proven experience in complex stakeholder management including senior management and C-suite level

• Collaborative team player, with excellent communication skills to work seamlessly with ease with your business stakeholders / second line

• Passion for and proven track record of working in an agile BizDevOps environment

• Must have worked with a geographically complex organization at scale

• Proven track record in finding, growing, and promoting talent

• Ability to plan and govern execution of change roadmaps across regional scope with several stakeholders
