Overview

As a DevSecOps Team Lead, you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice as a technical project manager or team lead delivering features to support cloud and application development. We are looking for candidates with 5-7 years experience with responsibility for leading cross functional and technical teams to drive projects from conceptual design feasibility through requirements, budget, completed design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

Contributions

Responsibilities include: 

 

  • Serve as the technical delivery lead, accountable for the successful completion of team efforts, including quality oversight and client acceptance.
  • Communicate technical options, tradeoffs, and risks to stakeholders, product teams, and leadership to support decision-making.
  • Provide strategic direction by fostering innovative thinking, understanding program objectives, and aligning development with business goals.
  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships, including handling complex or challenging situations and offering technical and business guidance.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and team collaboration to support Agile and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Foster adoption of Agile principles to support regular delivery of deployable software.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers, and integration partners to build new features and resolve issues across environments.
  • Ensure code quality and system integrity through testing oversight, secure coding practices, code reviews, and continuous integration efforts.
  • Oversee development and testing processes, including automation of build, test, and deployment pipelines.
  • Actively participate in system design sessions, sprint ceremonies, and cross-functional team meetings.
  • Develop and document DevSecOps technical strategies, roadmaps, and recommended improvements to existing tools and infrastructure.
  • Leverage containerization and virtualization to support software modernization and system optimization.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues through root cause analysis and implementation of fixes.Analyze and test code developed by others to ensure it meets performance, security, and quality standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development methods to continuously evolve technical practices.
  • Ensure systems are secure against cybersecurity threats and aligned with compliance expectations.
  • Provide status updates, technical documentation, and cross-training to promote team readiness and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage and mentor team members, supporting performance feedback and identifying training needs to encourage professional development.
  • Support broader organizational strategy by contributing to technical solutioning and business development efforts beyond the current program.

Qualifications

Required: 

 

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
  • BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience 
  • Proven experience of leading the deployment of enterprise and custom Software solutions in client environments 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and consult while providing thought leadership to sponsors/stakeholders in solving governance, program/project management, business process and/or technical problems 
  • Proven experience growing and selling while delivering 
  • 5 Years of Experience with one or more clouds (i.e. AWS, Azure, or GCP) 
  • 5 Years of Experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket 
  • 5 Years of Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages 
  • 5 Years of application DevSecOps Experience with actual/active development experience in an Agile environment 
  • 5 Years of Experience implementing infrastructure as code and orchestration 
  • 5 Years of Experience building CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Pipelines, CircleCI, TravisCI 
  • 3 Years of Experience integrating deployments with industry standard DevSecOps tooling and orchestration
  • Willing to be able to travel to client site when needed.

 

Preferred:

 

  • MS Degree  
  • Certifications: 
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer 
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional 
  • Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Expert 
  • SAFe Scrum Master Certification 
  • Certified Scrum Master 
  • Experience implementing Automated Testing frameworks including Selenium 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills 
  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations preferred 
  • Experience with scripting in Concourse, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby 
  • Experience with automation tools, including Pivotal, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible 
  • Local to the DMV area (Washington, DC)

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
