Job Summary
Dominion Energy’s Cyber Security group is seeking a highly skilled Engineer to join our Industrial Control System (ICS) Cyber Risk Team. There is one position available and it will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of ICS cybersecurity controls, ICS architecture, firewalls, security zones, remote access, and both ICS- and IT-networks. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to understand, articulate, and evaluate security control programs to protect critical infrastructure (including the Dominion Energy ICS Minimum Security Standards (ICS MSS)). This position will be located in Richmond, Virginia or Cayce, South Carolina and the candidate will effectively liaise between Cyber Risk, ICS areas, and IT, and assess architectural proposals and solutions to support compliance with ICS Minimum Security Standards.
Other duties included, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and revise the Dominion Energy ICS Minimum Security Standards.
- Provide consulting expertise on ICS architecture to include communication flows, remote access, firewall, and other security control considerations.
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including Cyber Risk, ICS areas, and IT.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate Business Area compliance to policies and standards.
- Engage (as time allows) with business areas as they test solutions to address ICS MSS.
- Provide expert advice on ICS cybersecurity best practices.
- Participate on project teams across Dominion Energy - offering expertise on how ICS MSS need to be addressed and help ensure projects are ICS Security compliant at Commissioning/Substantial Completion.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Senior Engineer: 5+ Years of relevant engineering experience
Staff Engineer: 8+ Years of relevant engineering experience
Consulting Engineer: 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
Note: A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
• Strong understanding of ICS cybersecurity controls and architecture.
• Familiarity with firewalls, security zones, and remote access concepts preferred.
• Experience with ICS and IT networks.
• Ability to understand, articulate, and evaluate cyber security standards.
• Proven ability to liaise effectively between disparate business areas or groups.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical and organizational leadership skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
Education Requirements
Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):
Bachelor’s in Engineering

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
