Responsibilities and Duties
OCT currently has an opening for a Cybersecurity Engineer to work with our federal client - MacDill Air Force Base (MAFB) to support the security posture of classified and unclassified systems by conducting technical security assessments and advising Government Information Systems Security Managers and Authorizing Officials. The candidate shall provide hands-on support for Security Test & Evaluation (ST&E) activities, technical documentation, tool maintenance, compliance monitoring and help manage RMF artifacts, vulnerability assessments, and coordination of system accreditation activities across multiple systems. This position is contingent on contract award.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Assist in the implementation of cybersecurity engineering tasks for classified/unclassified systems in accordance with Air Force and DoD directives.
- Support the development and execution of Security Test & Evaluation (ST&E) procedures and vulnerability scans using tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) Viewer.
- Collect and document assessment results, identifying and validating technical findings.
- Participate in the assessment of "as-is" and "to-be" states of IT systems and assist in drafting recommendations and remediation plans.
- Maintain cybersecurity documentation in RMF systems such Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), System Network Approval Process (SNAP), Information Technology Investment Portfolio System (ITIPS), and Grid Interconnection Approval Process (GIAP).
- Help track Authorization to Operate (ATO)/Authority to Connect (ATC) status, POA&M updates, and tool-based compliance metrics.
- Populate and update security control artifacts and technical data records.
- Coordinate inputs for SSPs, SARs, and RARs in support of security assessments.
- Monitor compliance metrics including information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVA), patch management status, and system scan results.
- Assist in preparing Information Assurance training materials, meeting minutes, and weekly status updates.
- Track and document the status of POA&Ms, ATO packages, and audit readiness.
- Support coordination with ISSOs and unit-level stakeholders for control implementation and reporting.
Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must hold an active DoD Secret or above clearance.
- Must be able to work on-site at MacDill AFB (3 days/week minimum).
- Familiarity with Air Force communications squadron operations and enclave architecture.
- Understanding of Air Force IA roles, DoD 8570.01M requirements, and cross-domain solution validation.
- Familiarity with DoD/DAF compliance methods, such as STIGs and CCRIs.
- Familiarity with DoD/DAF publications, end user policies and training requirements i.e., Comply-to-connect policy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the Airmen and write SOPs that are intelligible to all audiences.
- Ability to interpret complex technical ideas from technicians into documentation that can be understood by non-technical supervisors and commanders.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Knowledge and solid understanding of common Microsoft Office365 tools.
- 1+ years of experience in a cybersecurity support role within a DoD environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or related field.
- IAT Level I or II certification.

Salary Range: $45,000- 140,000 yearly commensurate with experience, education, etc.
