Cybersecurity Technical Writer/Editor (15.24)

OCT Consulting is a business management and technology consulting firm that provides support to Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.

Responsibilities and Duties

OCT currently has an opening for a Cybersecurity Technical Writer/Editor to work with our federal client - MacDill Air Force Base (MAFB) to support the security posture of classified and unclassified systems.  The candidate is responsible for producing clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation to support the 6 Communications Squadron at MacDill AFB. The role requires close coordination with Airmen, system owners, and SMEs to document SOPs, COOP plans, DR strategies, and cybersecurity policies.  This position is contingent on contract award.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain technical and user-facing documentation including SOPs, system guides, and training materials.
  • Develop end-user handouts and squadron onboarding materials in line with the Air Force’s branding and communications standards.
  • Assist with organizing and documenting cyber readiness plans, policy updates, and lessons learned.
  • Centralize documentation on the 6 CS official records drive and establish a consistent document style.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must hold an active DoD Secret or above clearance.
  • Must be able to work on-site at MacDill AFB (3 days/week minimum).
  • Familiarity with Air Force communications squadron operations.
  • Deep understanding of Air Force end-user policies, cybersecurity directives, and communication squadron mission needs.
  • Ability to translate complex technical content for a variety of audiences including Airmen, squadron leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Air Force IT support tools, documentation standards, and SharePoint publishing.
  • Familiarity with DoD/DAF compliance methods, such as STIGs and CCRIs.
  • Familiarity with DoD/DAF publications, end user policies and training requirements i.e., Comply-to-connect policy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the Airmen and write SOPs that are intelligible to all audiences.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical ideas from technicians into documentation that can be understood by non-technical supervisors and commanders.
  • Knowledge and solid understanding of common Microsoft Office365 tools.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting documentation efforts for DoD or Air Force programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Cybersecurity, or Information Science field.

Salary Range: $45,000- 140,000 yearly commensurate with experience, education, etc.
