CACI is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist to join our team supporting the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP). This role directly aligns with the DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Framework work role for Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist (ID: 521) at the Advanced level. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing, implementing, deploying, maintaining, and administering the critical hardware and software infrastructure that underpins cyber defense operations. This includes Linux systems, virtualization platforms, and automation tools within a complex security environment. This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts as necessary to support 24/7 mission requirements.

Responsibilities: 

As a Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist, you will manage and maintain the cyber defense infrastructure, including but not limited to: 

  • Infrastructure Deployment & Maintenance: Build, install, configure, test, deploy, and maintain dedicated cyber defense infrastructure hardware and software (e.g., servers, operating systems, security applications) (KSAT 2772). 

  • System Administration: Perform advanced system administration tasks for Linux-based systems, including security hardening, patching, and performance tuning. Manage virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, KVM). 

  • Automation & Orchestration: Utilize and manage automated deployment and configuration management platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Ansible Tower, PowerShell) to ensure efficient and consistent infrastructure management. 

  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and diagnose complex infrastructure anomalies, performance issues, and security tool conflicts, working through to resolution (KSAT 6700, 643A). 

  • Security Tool Support: Maintain and administer the infrastructure supporting cyber defense tools such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, and other security applications (KSAT 59A). 

  • Network & Security Configuration: Implement and manage host/network access controls, VPNs, and ensure adherence to network security architecture principles (KSAT 49, 81A, 148, 1072). 

  • Risk Management & Compliance: Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defense infrastructure (KSAT 960). Understand and apply relevant cyber defense policies, procedures, and risk management processes (KSAT 984, 108). Assess the impact of implementing and sustaining infrastructure changes (KSAT 5090). 

  • Reporting & Recommendations: Document infrastructure configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting efforts. Provide recommendations for tuning infrastructure components and security tools. Ensure relevant infrastructure status reporting meets JFHQ-DODIN timelines per CJCSM 6510.01B. 

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with security analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure infrastructure meets operational requirements and to implement security improvements. 

Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership to meet mission requirements and support USSTRATCOM objectives. Depending on experience and team structure, this role may involve working under direct supervision or potentially providing guidance, training, or supervision to others. 

Qualifications: 

Required Certifications (Must possess one): 

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) 

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security: Linux 

Conditional Alternative Certifications (Considered): 

  • GIAC Defensible Security Architecture (GDSA) 

  • Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200) 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required. 

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant, progressive experience is preferred, with a strong emphasis on Linux system administration, virtualization, infrastructure security, and automation within an enterprise environment. 

  • Mandatory Experience: Demonstrated hands-on experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL preferred), Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM), and automated deployment/configuration management platforms such as Kubernetes, Ansible Tower, or Microsoft PowerShell scripting. 

  • Experience working within DoD or Federal government environments and familiarity with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIGs, and network security architecture is highly desirable. 

  • Expert-level knowledge of Linux system administration, security hardening, networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs), and infrastructure best practices. 

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation and system management. 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to complex infrastructure issues. 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 

  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) as required by mission needs. 

  • Must possess an active or be eligible to acquire Top Secret w/ SCI security clearance.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$90,700 - $199,600
