What You Will Do: 

Guidehouse is looking for an experienced Cyber Defense Instructure Support Specialist at the Subject Matter Expert (SME) level with experience in supporting federal organizations.  Your duties will be in support of a federal client in developing, operating, maintaining, and enhancing their suite of cybersecurity solutions.  The solutions provided enable timely incident response, threat detection, and event monitoring. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating new applications, algorithms, and optimize workflows and improved data analytics. This includes defining requirements for technical solutions, conducting research and deploying emerging technology, and enhancing the overall solution portfolio.

Duties may include but are not limited to:  

• Initiate, supervise, and/or develop requirements from a project’s inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs  

• Provide strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff 

• Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues. 

• Coordinate with Cyber Defense Analysts to manage and administer the updating of rules and signatures for specialized cyber defense applications.  

• Perform system administration on specialized cyber defense applications and systems and Virtual Private Network (VPN) devices, to include installation, configuration, maintenance, backup, and restoration.  

• Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defense infrastructure and key resources.  

• Building, installing, configuring, and testing dedicated cyber defense hardware.  

• Assist in assessing the impact of implementing and sustaining a dedicated cyber defense infrastructure.  

• Implement Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) requirements for dedicated cyber defense systems within the enterprise, and document and maintain records for them.

What You Will Need: 

• An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED TOP SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance.

• EIGHT (8) or more years of experience in Information Technology and/or cybersecurity

• Experience with Linux based environment administration 

• Experience testing, implementing, deploying, maintaining, and administering infrastructure hardware and software for cybersecurity. 

• Experience developing, creating, modifying, and maintaining computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs for cybersecurity. 

What Would Be Nice To Have: ​

• TEN (10) or more years of experience in Information Technology and/or cybersecurity

• Preferred Certifications: 
  - Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) 
  - AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  - AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Associate

• Experience integrating third-party components, the introduction of new custom capabilities, modification of existing code, process improvement recommendation, and automation of operations and maintenance tasks.

• Experience with Splunk, Oracle/SQL based platforms, and python.
