About SICPA & the Digital Scale-up Team

At SICPA, we safeguard sovereignty by enabling nation-states to protect their most critical assets through cutting-edge digital solutions. The Digital Scale-up Team is a newly formed unit in the Digital Research and Innovation teams dedicated to scaling up innovative products to serve governments leveraging state of the art digital technologies.

We are looking for a person to join our team with an entrepreneurial mindset, able to identify problems, take ownership, and drive innovative solutions with minimal guidance while balancing technical excellence and business value.

The Cryptography Engineer will help design, prototype, and implement secure cryptographic solutions that will serve as the foundation of next-generation security architectures.

ROLE

  • Shape new concepts and ideas in cryptographic security, quickly and iteratively, through prototyping.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, security architects, and product teams to design and implement cryptographic frameworks for real-world applications.
  • Deliver working prototypes and sandbox environments to test security assumptions and optimize performance.
  • Research and apply cryptographic techniques such as Multi-Party Computation (MPC), key rotation schemes, Secure Enclaves (TEE), and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) to protect critical assets.
  • Identify and integrate cryptographic standards and best practices (FIPS, PKI, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001) into SICPA’s digital solutions.
  • Assess and mitigate security risks in highly adversarial environments, ensuring long-term protection and resilience.
  • Act as a technical advisor and mentor, educating team members on cryptographic concepts and security tradeoffs.
  • Engage with external researchers, academia, and industry experts to stay at the forefront of cryptographic advancements.

PROFILE

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Cryptography, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Red/blue team experience is a strong asset.
  • Expertise in applied cryptography, long-term security, MPC, Secure Elements (SE), TEE, and cryptographic protocol design.
  • Strong knowledge of cryptographic standards and security frameworks (FIPS, AAL, PKI, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001).
  • Proficiency in Rust and experience using it for secure application development and cryptographic implementation.
  • Ability to solve complex security challenges using a mix of cryptographic primitives, protocols, and innovative approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain security tradeoffs to both technical and managerial stakeholders.
  • Self-driven and proactive mindset, with a passion for securing digital ecosystems.
  • Fluent in English (French is a plus).
  • Certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, or specialized cryptography/security credentials) are a plus.

WHY JOIN US?

  • Work on high-impact projects that contribute to national digital sovereignty.
  • Collaborate with an innovative and multidisciplinary team of experts in cryptography, cybersecurity, and software development.
  • Explore and implement cutting-edge cryptographic solutions in real-world, high-security environments.
  • A fast-paced, research-driven environment where your ideas directly influence product design and security architecture.
