Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Principal Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join our Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Mission Training Complex (MTC) team on-base in Washington state.  The selected candidate will serve as the coordinator for the MTC’s risk management framework (RMF) program.

This position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and customer approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the appropriate operational security posture is maintained and documented for MTC information systems

  • Defines and implements standard operating procedures, implementing U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Army, and MTC policies

  • Creates and implements plans of action and milestones (POA&M) in response to vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments, audits, and inspections

  • Assures successful implementation and functionality of security requirements and appropriate IT policies and procedures that are consistent with the organization's mission and goals

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of DoD cybersecurity operations experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of DoD cybersecurity operations experience

    • Master’s degree in cybersecurity or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of DoD cybersecurity operations experience

  • One of the following:

    • Meet DoD 8570.01-M Baseline Computing Environment (CE) Certification Requirements at Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM II)

    • Meet minimum DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for a Work Role 722 Information Systems Security Manager (Advanced)

  • The ISSO must have an expert understanding of NIST, DoD, & Army Cybersecurity & Risk Management Framework processes, policies, directives, instructions, manuals, and best business practices; knowledge of current industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating IT security assessment, monitoring, detection and remediation tools and procedures utilizing standards-based concepts and capabilities; knowledge of disaster recovery Continuity of Operations Plans;

  • Knowledge of enterprise incident response program, roles, and responsibilities; knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of Defense-in-Depth); knowledge of known vulnerabilities from alerts, advisories, errata, and bulletins; knowledge of measures or indicators of system performance and availability; knowledge of network systems management principles, models, methods, and tools (e.g., end-to-end systems performance monitoring)

  • Knowledge of server administration and systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods; knowledge of systems lifecycle management principles, including software security and usability; skill in determining how a security system should work (including its resilience and dependability capabilities) and how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment will affect these outcomes; and excellent communications skills and ability to brief senior leaders in layman’s terms.

  • This position requires a U.S. DoD Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance

  • Must be able to work on-site at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in MTCs

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in assessing and mitigating risk for networks and systems utilized in LVC and integrated training environments that include simulations that stimulate Army C2 Systems and MCIS

Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
