We're looking for a Data Privacy Manager to champion GDPR at Zopa.  As manager of the Data Privacy Team, you will be responsible for managing Zopa’s data privacy requirements, building strong collaborative relationships across the business to ensure effective management of our data protection risks. 

A day in the life

  • Managing the day-to-day workings of the Data Privacy Team – dealing with data protection queries, informing and advising the business in conjunction with the Head of Data Governance about its obligations to comply with data protection law 
  • Championing the Data Protection by design approach 
  • Supporting the Zopa DPO when necessary, with complaints handling and internal controls reporting 
  • Assessing and conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on instances of high-risk processing activities 
  • Collaborate with all relevant teams to ensure all request for an individual data privacy rights( e.g. DSARs) are resolved in a timely manner in compliance with data protection laws 
  • Ensure risk events are managed and processed effectively by advising the relevant teams on appropriate actions.  
  • Monitoring Zopa’s compliance with data protection law by the continued training of our employees. Ensure instances which require awareness-raising are dealt with on a pro-active basis.  
  • On a periodic basis, work with the relevant teams to undertake reviews of our Data Retention values and our Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) to ensure they remain valid and current 
  • Ensure our personal and sensitive data is managed effectively and in line with GDPR 
  • Engage with the relevant Zopa teams during the onboarding process of third-party vendors to ensure all aspects of data protection law are applied 
  • Assist with review of Data Protection training  
  • Assisting with the supplier’s data privacy questionnaires assessment  

Requirements for the role:

  • Strong background with day-to-day data privacy issues and data protection laws with in-depth knowledge of GDPR and DPA regulations.  
  • Ability to work autonomously with sound judgement 
  • You will be an effective relationship builder with strong stakeholder management experience across multiple disciplines 
  • Strong ability to translate regulatory requirements into easily understandable terms
