Cybersecurity Engineer, Mid

The Opportunity: 

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your experience in Cybersecurity to protect and defend critical communications networks? As Cybersecurity engineer, you can become an integral part of our team responsible for developing and implementing effective cybersecurity solutions to enable a vital national security system to operate in compliance with the Department of Defense and other requisite security requirements

On our team, you’ll analyze complex challenges and develop solutions for customers using your knowledge of Risk Management Framework and the NIST 800-53 Rev 5 Security Controls. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop security solutions. Using your industry knowledge and experience, you’ll assess security threats and implement infrastructure controls.

What You’ll Work On: 

  • Perform ongoing cybersecurity activities for programs

  • Perform risk assessments of systems and equipment

  • Assist engineers with identifying solutions for vulnerabilities

  • Apply appropriate security controls and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

  • Develop change requests for system components

  • Develop a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to address system vulnerabilities or enhancements

  • Create documentation supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditations

  • Perform vulnerability management using automated systems

  • Create and submit RMF packages in Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)

  • Brief the technical security posture to client leadership

  • Prepare briefing slides and summaries of vulnerabilities

  • Advise on how to prevent and mitigate future security threats

You Have:   

  • 3+ years of experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)

  • Experience developing and evaluating system security documentation for IT systems

  • Knowledge of the DoD RMF

  • Ability to execute, analyze, secure, and accredit DoD IT systems working with STIGs, SCAP, and cybersecurity best practices

  • Ability to perform IAVA analysis and resolution, document POA&Ms and create security documents necessary for assessments

  • Ability to quickly assess and respond to orders

  • Ability to drive action to achieve results with minimal direction and lead others

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience in Cybersecurity

  • DoD 8570-Compliant IAT Level II or III Certification, such as Security+

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience with using security-related tools, including Nessus (ACAS) or ESS

  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, directives, and STIGs for IT systems

  • Knowledge of NIST 800 series publications, including 800-30, 800-37, 800-53, and 800-53a

  • Ability to assess organizational risks associated with security threats and recommend mitigation strategies

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Top Secret clearance

Clearance:   

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
