About the role
Join Sydney Airport as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer and play a critical role in protecting one of Australia’s most vital transport hubs. As part of our dynamic Technology Team, you’ll take the lead in safeguarding our systems through advanced cyber operations, including identity and access management, data loss prevention, infrastructure security, incident response, and technical risk mitigation. With millions of passengers and a complex network of stakeholders relying on our systems, your expertise will be central to maintaining trust, safety, and resilience across our digital environment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Providing expert cyber advisory across various domains and supporting the implementation of the cyber security service catalogue.
- Overseeing identity and access management implementation, including lifecycle processes and access control reviews.
- Supporting infrastructure and endpoint security, ensuring protective controls are in place and threats are effectively mitigated.
- Implementing and maintaining data loss prevention measures to protect sensitive information across its lifecycle.
- Conducting and analysing vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and address potential risks.
- Managing cyber incident response activities and collaborating with service providers on threat intelligence and remediation efforts.
- Assisting in the review of security monitoring use cases and coordinating responses to escalated events.
- Partnering with technology owners to drive the remediation of risks identified through audits, assessments, and testing activities.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline and at least 6 years of post-graduate or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Security Engineer (or similar) role, with a focus on most of the focus areas such as infrastructure security, data loss prevention, identity and access management, incident response, or vulnerability assessment.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience applying security standards and frameworks such as ITIL, ISO 27000 series, Essential 8, or NIST.
- A solid understanding of network and server infrastructure, including endpoint management and web application security.
- Experience using security tools such as Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Endpoint, Tenable, and ServiceNow.
- Knowledge of Operational Technology security and hands-on experience with firewalls (FortiGate, F5), routers, switches, and server infrastructure is highly regarded.
