Smart.NETGEAR is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Software Engineer to join our Security Engineering team at the Taiwan Engineering Center. In this role, In this role, your primary responsibility will be to investigate and resolve security vulnerabilities in the product firmware, ensuring the safety and reliability of our home networking products already in the market. In addition to vulnerability remediation, you will also contribute to the design and development of new security features, helping to proactively protect future NETGEAR products against evolving threats. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to diagnose issues, implement fixes, and maintain high security standards. This is a Hybrid role and requires to be in the Taipei office 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
• Investigate and resolve security vulnerabilities in collaboration with the in-house software team and third-party partners in a timely and effective manner.
• Design and develop secure software and firmware components for NETGEAR’s home networking products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including project managers, QA, and product teams—to integrate security into all phases of the product development lifecycle.
• Research emerging threats, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies relevant to embedded systems and home networking devices.
• Contribute to the development of security tools, frameworks, and automation to enhance engineering productivity and security assurance.
• Maintain clear and detailed technical documentation, and provide expert guidance on secure coding practices to other engineering teams.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong focus on security.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, and experience in Linux-based embedded system development.
• In-depth knowledge of network security principles, encryption standards, and secure communication protocols (e.g., TLS, SSH, WPA3).
• Experience with secure coding, defensive programming, and industry best practices for secure software development.
• Familiarity with common vulnerability types (e.g., buffer overflows, injection, privilege escalation) and how to mitigate them.
• Experience using static and dynamic analysis tools for security validation.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
