At Okta, Business Technology (BT) is the backbone of how we scale, secure, and streamline internal systems and operations. We're looking for a strategic and technically strong Director of Enterprise Automation & DevSecOps to lead our efforts in building scalable platforms, driving intelligent automation, and embedding secure DevOps practices into our engineering culture.This individual will lead a team responsible for enterprise automation frameworks, cross-system integrations (iPaaS), platform engineering, and DevSecOps enablement. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership and the ability to scale secure, automated systems to support a high-growth, fast-paced environment. Position Description: As the Director of Enterprise Automation & DevSecOps, you will define and drive the vision, strategy, and execution of automation, integration, and secure platform capabilities across Okta’s internal systems. You'll lead a high-performing team of engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Business Technology, Security, Infrastructure, and the business to deliver reusable infrastructure, ensure secure deployments, and accelerate the delivery of business capabilities through smart automation. Key Responsiblities:
  • Define and lead the enterprise automation and integration strategy, streamlining business processes and reducing manual effort through tools such as Boomi, Workato and custom automation frameworks.
  • Drive the implementation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and GenAI-powered solutions, identifying high-impact opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and enhance operational efficiency through AI-driven workflows.
  • Build and evolve Okta’s internal platform ecosystem, delivering scalable and reusable frameworks for automation and integrations using iPaaS tools and modern design principles.
  • Establish and champion secure DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, environment provisioning, and secrets management aligned with internal security and compliance standards (e.g., SOX, audit readiness).
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of engineers, architects, and analysts focused on automation, integration, and DevSecOps capabilities—fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and delivery excellence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders in Security, Product, Infrastructure, and Business to translate complex requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Drive the modernization of legacy systems, identifying and executing opportunities to consolidate platforms, reduce operational complexity, and improve system reliability and security.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact, cross-functional programs, ensuring alignment, transparency, and measurable business outcomes throughout the execution lifecycle.
  • Integrate compliance and security best practices into platform and deployment pipelines, including access controls, policy enforcement, and audit readiness.
  • Define and track key success metrics and KPIs, including delivery velocity, system uptime, security posture, and automation ROI.
  • Champion engineering excellence by embedding best practices around agile delivery, observability, testing, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Qualification:
  • 15+ years of experience in Business Technology or enterprise IT, with increasing leadership responsibilities in engineering, platform, automation, or DevOps functions
  • 5+ years in a people leadership role with a track record of growing and scaling high-performing teams
  • Experience delivering enterprise automation and integration platforms, including hands-on use of iPaaS tools like Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato, or similar
  • Experience implementing RPA solutions using tools like Automation Anywhere, including identifying use cases and scaling adoption
  • Familiarity with GenAI tools and technologies, and a proven ability to integrate AI-driven automation to drive operational efficiency and innovation
  • Proven expertise in DevSecOps tooling and practices: CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Kubernetes, Terraform, secrets management
  • Strong background in cloud-native technologies (AWS/GCP) and infrastructure security
  • Deep understanding of integration architecture, data flows, and automation frameworks
  • Experience leading teams in an agile environment and managing large-scale platform projects
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred)

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $227,000—$341,000 USD

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$203,000—$305,000 USD
