ROLE SUMMARY
The Finance Manager is the primary point of contact accountable for all financial oversight and treatment of assigned CISO Service Tower budgets. The Manager has ownership of operational activities to ensure CISO key financial commitments are achieved. Including but not limited to operating expense management, capital management, forecasting and month end close activities.
The position will perform this function in partnership with the CISO Leadership Team (LT) members and will work directly for the Director, CISO Finance Operations. This role will require strong analytical ability, coupled with knowledge of business, finance analysis tools, and methodologies.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The CISO Finance Manager position is responsible for financial management reporting and analysis aligned to the CISO Service Towers. Key stakeholders will be CISO Leadership Team, CISO Service Owners, Enabling Finance, and Procurement. The role is responsible for, and not limited to, conducting the following key activities:
Manage the oversight of the CISO financials and have a strong understanding of where, why, and how CISO Service Tower finances are spent. Make recommendations for where financial adjustments should be made, as necessary, based on resource demands.
Ownership and accountability of month end financial accounting processing (e.g. Accruals, Transfers, Depreciation, etc.) for assigned Service Towers
Ownership of monthly compilations including reporting to local leadership and cost center managers.
Identify and resolve monthly accounting discrepancies (e.g. Accruals, Transfers, Depreciation, etc.)
Periodically review purchase requests to ensure appropriate financial treatment of tax as it applies to asset purchases and good receipts.
Accountable to process and/or review and track all purchase orders for appropriate financial treatment (e.g allocation to spend categories, thresholds, shipping & receiving, tax, etc)
Ensure that all OpEx financial targets are met for specific service area.
Examine areas where budgets and expenditure exceed their agreed tolerances; drive operation of effective financial accounting and decision making.
Root Cause Research - Research business related variances, identify variance as manual accounting error or legitimate business movement, follow-up with GFS or market colleagues to resolve variance
Identification of financial processes for continuous improvement and automation
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting with five years of relevant financial management experience; OR Master’s degree with three years of relevant experience; OR Associate's degree with eight years of relevant experience; OR Ph.D. with 0+ years of experience; OR 10 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Deep understanding of finance IT systems.
Deep understanding of Pfizer’s international financial processes
Management Reporting and Analysis process experience
Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Competency with spreadsheets & financial modelling (comfort with data manipulation and financial systems)
Ability to identify business issues/opportunities and to frame business questions
Knowledge of various financial systems and financial reporting aspects is preferred
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Knowledge of Pfizer Accounting practices and policies
