A day in the life.

The National Cyber Operations Claim Assistant is a detail-oriented and analytical professional responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting data to support operational decision-making and improve efficiencies within the cyber claims framework.  This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the efficient handling of claims, providing expert guidance on cyber-related incidents, and advocating for clients throughout the claims process.  The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis, and the ability to effectively share and elevate findings to shareholders, as well as a commitment to delivering high quality service to clients.

The National Cyber Operations Claim Assistant is essential in enhancing the claims experience for clients, ensuring timely and accurate processing of claims, and contributing to the overall success of MMA’s cyber claims operations.  This role requires assistance in elevated cyber claim matters to support key MMA regional claim partners.  By acting as a liaison between clients, insurers, and internal teams, this position will help drive improvements in claims management processes and support MMA’s mission to provide comprehensive cyber risk solutions.

Essential Functions—All Related to Claim Operations and Data Collection

  • Collaborate with carriers on innovative solutions to enhance claim process, leverage technology, and improve claims service.  Evaluate carrier performance in claims handling, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.

  • Develop system/process for collecting, analyzing and reporting on claims data.

  • Implement knowledge-sharing initiatives such as workshops and training sessions, to disseminate best practices and lessons learned.

  • Seek opportunities to reduce administrative tasks in claim management and focus on providing claims guidance/advocacy, value-added services, and claims deliverables.

  • Facilitate regular communication among teams and key stakeholders to ensure alignment on claim strategies and operational goals.  Implement feedback mechanisms to gather insights from stakeholders on the claims process, using this information to drive enhancements.

  • Design and implement training programs focused on consultative claims management techniques, enhancing the skills of claims colleagues in client engagement and advocacy.  Collaborate with Learning & Development for content creation.

  • Partner with MarComm to build out inventory of Claims Success Stories, Claims blog series, and content diversification on Claims Management and solutions page.

  • Gather and compile data from various resources, including internal databases, and external partners (vendors/carriers, etc.) to analyze operationally to identify trends, patterns and insights.

  • Create and maintain regular reports and dashboards to present findings to management and other stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate documentation of data sources, methodologies and analytical processes.

Essential Functions—All Related to Cyber Incident Claims

  • Support in an advisory capacity MMA regional claim colleagues on claims.

  • Respond to customer questions and concerns on complex first- and third-party cyber claim issues.

  • Act as an additional liaison and client advocate to our carrier partners.

  • Provide guidance and review complex escalated claims/cyber events.  Perform special claim coverage research as needed.

  • Manage complex negotiations and influence insurers and their vendors to ensure that claim engagements with clients and insurers result in favorable (and departmental) outcomes.

  • Develop claims communication understanding so that stakeholders are informed and current.

  • Ability to speak with all constituents at their level including counsel, DFIR professionals, insurer representatives, and executives.

  • Understand and explain claims costs analysis, coverage features, vendor roles for claim decisions.

Additional Responsibilities:  Learning & Development

  • Keep abreast of developments impacting cyber claims in a variety of areas: cyber incident trends, regulatory changes, coverage innovations and claim handling trends and innovations.

  • Provide feedback and reporting as may be helpful to stakeholders on MMA cyber claim trends.

  • Track claim and breach response examples for internal and external education and business development utilization.

We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • Substantial claims experience including strong knowledge of insurance carrier claims services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required, law degree preferred.  J.D., AIC, ARM, CIC or CRM, equivalent preferred. P&C license or willingness to obtain required.

  • Must have strong technical knowledge of cyber lines of coverage, contractual policy language requirements, information technology systems and architecture.

  • Must be accessible outside of normal business hours for urgent issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to work at a varying pace, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, adjusting priorities often, and managing frequent interruptions.

  • Must be detailed with good interpersonal skills and high sense of urgency.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation and influencing skills.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $95,000 to $176,900.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
