Summary of the Role:

Initially this role will deploy, manage, and optimize Microsoft Defender for endpoint, email, and exposure management controls to help reduce cyber risk.  This role will also work across multiple best-in-class security platforms to ensure an effective Cyber Kill Chain and Defense in Depth approach is maintained and optimized.     The ability to quickly learn and understand new security platforms and add new skills is required.  Examples of tasks this role will be called on to perform are listed below.

About the Role:

Cloud Expertise:

• Perform hands-on tasks configuring controls within one or more of AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platforms (GCP) to ensure optimal performance and security.  

Cloud Security Tools:

• Secure workloads and resources using cloud-native security tools such as AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, and GCP Security Command Center. 

Application Security:

• Collaborate with Application Development Managers to ensure code level findings from GitHub Advanced Security are being logged and resolved.    

Threat Detection & Response:

• Design and implement robust protective controls and response mechanisms across multiple cloud environments to detect and respond to threats effectively.

Email Security:

• Manage and optimize email security platforms, including technologies like DMARC, DKIM, SPF, and secure email gateways to protect against email-based threats.

Endpoint Security:

• Deploy and manage endpoint detection and response (EDR) controls and collaborate with CSIRT Teams as needed to ensure new threat vectors are understood and mitigated.

Scripting Skills:

• Develop and deploy scripts (Powershell, Python, Bash, etc.) to automate security tasks such as monitoring, log analysis, and remediation workflows.

Network Security:

• Configure and manage network security principles, including firewall configurations, load balancers, WAFs, and secure VPN setups to protect network infrastructure.

Cross-Platform Integration:

• Integrate security controls across hybrid and multi-cloud environments to ensure unified threat management.

Compliance & Governance:

• Apply compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOC 2 in cloud security practices to ensure regulatory adherence.

Monitoring & Reporting:

• Create dashboards and reports for security operations to support a risk-based, data-driven continuous improvement process.
