The Role

Lumen technologies have an immediate need for a Senior Information Security Engineer who has a passion for automation improving efficiency and identification of cyber threats.  If you are a developer versed with security controls, thrive in a challenging environment, and have a commitment to continuous learning, this may be the opportunity for you.

The Main Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to identify, engineer, and implement automation and orchestration solutions that support business needs.
• Develop an understanding of security technologies (SIEM, network, host, security appliance, data bus, ….) to identify and implement automation opportunities.
• Continual focus on efficiency for improvement of Lumen’s cybersecurity posture.
• Leverage agile methodologies to foster innovation and responsiveness. 
• Complete tasks independently and collaboratively, demonstrating excellent communications skills throughout. 
• Develop and maintain key metrics that highlight value and drive improvements in technologies and processes.
• Adhere to corporate and workgroup processes applicable to the role (e.g. change and outage management).
• Participate in on-call rotation.

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Seasoned professional with 3+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering or 2+ years’ experience with a Master's Degree.
• 2+ years of development experience (e.g. Python) and scripting languages (e.g. RegEx, PowerShell).
• Working experience with Scala and big data applications.
• Familiarity with Security Information Event Management (SIEM) systems (e.g. Splunk).
• Exposure with Security Orchestration Automation & Response (SOAR) platform(s).
• Understanding of industry standard incident response concepts and frameworks (NIST Incident Handling, Cyber Kill Chain, etc.).
• Understanding of common computing platforms, including Windows (workstation & server), Linux (server), Macintosh (workstation).
• Understanding of network technologies.
• Strong work ethic, demonstrated self-starter, ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have Qualifications:

• Exposure to Cribl or similar log-forwarding technologies.
• Exposure and understanding of user behavior analytics.
• Broad technical knowledge of current and emerging network and security technologies.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$82,969 - $110,625 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$87,117 - $116,156 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$91,266 - $121,688 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
