Northrop Grumman , Strategic Space Systems Division, is seeking a Principal Computer Systems Architect to join the GPSE Special Test Equipment Engineering (STEE) team. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Space programs that provides specialized IT support to Restricted, DOD and Unclassified systems and environments.  This position requires knowledge and adherence to Information Assurance processes and procedures per NG InfoSec and program security organizations.  The applicant will be expected to support a variety of diverse and dynamic environments. The Job requires supporting multiple engineering areas that have incorporated COTS hardware and operating systems with custom applications into their test systems and operational products.

Essential Functions:

  • Administration of Linux (RHEL 7/8/9, Rocky 8/9, Ubuntu 20+) servers and workstations

  • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting hardened Linux operating systems

  • Installing, configuring, and supporting Linux applications

  • Experience using Compliance and Remediation tools (i.e., Nessus, SCC SCAP scanner, STIG Viewer)

  • On call, 24/7 pager support during critical phases of testing, contingency operations and off-site as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of technical experience OR Master’s Degree plus 3 years of technical experience OR High School Diploma/G.E.D plus 9 years of technical experience in lieu of degree

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance & SCI Access.

  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.

  • Meets DOD IAT requirements for security certification or be in the process of obtaining one. (i.e. CISSP, Security+ certification)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7/8/9 servers and workstations

  • Administration of Windows workstations and servers ( Win10, Win11, and Win2019/2022 )

  • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting hardened Windows server operating systems (Server, AD, WSUS)

  • Proven work experience configuring Linux server applications ( i.e. Samba, NFS, Chrony, Web servers, NFS, SSSD )

  • Installing, configuring, and supporting Windows applications ( i.e. Xilinx, Windriver, LabView, Office )

  • Solid understanding of computer networking (OS configuration, Network switches, Firewalls, CISCO IOS)

  • Performing Backups and Restores using COTS and Open Source tools to implement a disaster recovery plan ( Windows and Linux )

  • Implementation of CMMC/DFARS/RMF/DOD Security Controls on Linux and Windows operating systems (i.e. Windows SHB and RHEL SSG builds)

  • Highly skilled at using Compliance and Remediation tools (i.e. Nessus, SCC SCAP scanner, STIG Viewer)

  • Installing, configuring, and operating VMWare, OpenShift and KVM virtualization environments

  • Building, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting IT systems hardware (i.e. Workstations, Servers, Storage appliances, network switches, rack & stack)

  • Consult with vendors in the identification of new hardware/software technologies to meet program requirements

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps tools and practices (Configuration Management, Atlassian Tool Suite, etc.)

  • Working experience with scripting languages and automation, such as bash, ansible, and/or PowerShell

  • Advanced knowledge in deployment and maintenance of SAN/NAS storage appliance (NetApp, Dell Unity, Linux filers, Synology).

Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
