Information Specialist - Compliance
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: £39,500 - £50,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight.
Clearance Level: You will need to obtain and maintain DV security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 10 years in order to apply for DV clearance.
Hybrid working is available for this role on an informal, non-contractual basis. Typically 2 days onsite per week.

AWE is currently recruiting for an Information Specialist - Compliance for the Information, Configuration & Knowledge Management group.
This individual will play a key role in driving the maturity and compliance of information, records and information assets at AWE. They will be instrumental in ensuring the organisation meets it’s legal and regulatory obligations under Information and Records legislation, including but not limited to the ONR’s Nuclear Licence Conditions, the Public Records Act (PRA), the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Data Protection Act (UK GDPR).
Key Accountabilities:
- Supporting regulatory compliance including reporting compliance issues and breaches.
- Delivering monitoring and reporting activities in line with team and business rhythms.
- Producing accurate and timely compliance reports.
- Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and being a great team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting regular audits, assessments and studies to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, policies and standards.
- Conducting assessments of the maturity, efficiency and efficacy of company information management processes and ways of working.
- Collecting, collating and summarising data related to the lifecycle management of information.
- Creating and communicating insights, highlighting required actions and improvements.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and management of effective metrics that measure and improve IM performance and maturity.
- Supporting the management and mitigation of information risks associated with the legal, contractual, security and accessibility of information.
- Working closely with information services staff and business stakeholders to deliver information management improvements.
- Contribute to developing the capability in electronic working practices, ensuring solutions satisfy business requirements and are compliant with policies and standards.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on the subject of information and records management.
- Implement activities related to information change and improvements, leading on information matters.
- Keep abreast of external advances in relevant fields.
- Promote relationships and manage interfaces across the business.
- Support the Senior Information Specialist, Principal Information Specialist, Head of KIM and the AWE Departmental Records Officer (DRO) to ensure legal and contractual compliance.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:
- Working with legal, regulatory and maturity requirements and emerging trends and issues; specifically in Information or Records Management, Information Security or Information Risk Management would be a bonus.
- Working with KPIs, metrics and measurements, as well as using a variety of monitoring methodologies within a modern digital and data driven environment.
- Producing written reports and communication materials.
- Information and records management lifecycle processes of both paper and digital records.
- Working in a complex regulatory environment, with large scale information, data or records.
- Communicating and influencing at all levels within a large or complex organisation.
- Identifying risks, issues and opportunities, and delivering improvements.
- Project management methodologies would be beneficial.
You’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
