The Multi Domain Solutions Division at Leidos is looking for a Network Engineer to support a fast-paced program with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, managing multiple workstations and network hardware across multiple customer sites and the cloud. We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to deploy, monitor, and maintain network systems that meet Department of Defense (DoD) specifications. In this role, you will implement secure network architectures, monitor and operate customer networks, and support the deployment and installation of network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls. You will conduct testing to ensure functionality and security compliance, maintain accurate documentation, and provide technical support to team members and end-users. You will be part of a team providing 24x7 monitoring of customer networks in shifts at the Leidos operated Network Operations Center. 

*This position will require the ability to work a rotating shift*  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed network designs and architectures that align with Department of Defense (DoD) standards. 
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and source network hardware and software that meet project specifications. 
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers. 
  • Conduct thorough testing of network systems to ensure functionality, performance, and security compliance. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during installation and testing phases. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, installations, and changes. 
  • Develop and update network diagrams and other relevant technical documents. 
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. 
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users. 
  • Stay updated on DoD policies and best practices related to network security and design. 
  • Implement security measures to protect network infrastructure and data. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with at least a Top Secret Clearance is required. With the ability to obtain a SCI prior to your start date. 
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong knowledge of protocols, security standards, and design principles for OSI Layers 1-4. 
  • Experience with installation and configuration of physical networking equipment and Local Area Networks (LANs). 
  • Experience with the design and deployment of Wide Area Networks (WANs) using Virtual Private Networking (VPN) technologies 
  • Experience in interpreting and contextualizing network management and troubleshooting tools and technologies, such as ICMP, SNMPv3, and Syslog. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations and procurement processes. 
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking principles & technologies, especially in Microsoft Azure. 
  • Experience with the operation and employment of cryptographic devices to facilitate secure networking across a Virtual Private Network (VPN).  
  • Experience configuring virtual private networks (VPNs) using one or more of the following technologies: Cisco AnyConnect, Azure VPN Gateway, MPLS, IPsec VPN, or other site-to-site VPN technologies 
  • Experience with DoD networks, especially classified and operational networks 
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or other specialization certifications (e.g. JNCIA, PCNSA, AZ-700, CISSP, etc). 
  • Experience with network performance monitoring and optimization. 
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices and risk management, especially at OSI layers 1-3. 
  • Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a technical team. 
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in network infrastructure.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
