Overview
Abacus Technology is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to provide system security analysis, cyber compliance management, and security monitoring at Fort Bragg. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Monitor network devices, firewalls, web proxies, HBSS, and wireless security measures for compliance with Army and DoD cybersecurity policies.
- Administer and manage security controls for HBSS across local and regional sites.
- Conduct periodic ACAS vulnerability scans, review findings, and provide remediation recommendations.
- Assist in developing security solutions and improvements to mitigate vulnerabilities and prevent malicious activity.
- Use technical skills to respond to threats and emergency security incidents in a timely manner.
- Analyze security logs, alerts, and network activity to identify potential security incidents.
- Assist in forensic investigations, threat intelligence analysis, and incident reporting.
- Work with cybersecurity teams to develop incident containment and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure systems comply with DoD and Army cybersecurity standards, including DISA STIGs and RMF controls.
- Implement access control measures, security configurations, and encryption policies to protect critical assets.
- Monitor and enforce firewall policies, IPS, and data loss prevention controls.
- Support security engineering for network upgrades, new system implementations, and enterprise IT projects.
- Maintain detailed security documentation, including vulnerability assessments, incident reports, and compliance audits.
- Provide feedback and technical guidance to customers regarding ACAS scan results and security risk assessments.
- Assist in preparing cybersecurity compliance reports, ATO packages, and policy documentation.
- Effectively communicate security information, risks, and best practices to IT teams, analysts, and leadership.
- Support cybersecurity awareness initiatives, ensuring personnel adhere to Army IT security policies.
Qualifications
1+ years experience in information systems security, network security monitoring, and cyber compliance. Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired. Must be Security+ certified (or hold an equivalent certification in compliance with IAT Level II). GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certifications desired. Familiar with DoD cybersecurity policies, including DISA STIGs, RMF, and AR 25-2. Experience monitoring network security devices, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security tools. Able to conduct and analyze ACAS vulnerability scans and provide risk-based recommendations. Proficient in responding to cyber threats, security incidents, and system vulnerabilities. Experience working in a DoD cybersecurity operations center, monitoring tools like ACAS, HBSS, and SIEM platforms. Familiar with cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST 800-53, RMF, and DoD cyber defense directives. Able to interact professionally with all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
