What will your typical day look like?
Your day will consist of you engaging in developing and managing automation solutions to enhance security processes. You will be required to priortise tasks, review incident reports and design automation scripts or tools. Client engagement will be key to your role. You will work quite closely with clients to understand existing security workflows and identify inefficiencies and propose enhancements. Furthermore, as a security professional you will be able to change pace and manage any urgent issues as they arise in your day.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Automation Engineer to join our Security Engineering function. This hands-on technical role will be crucial in enhancing our security operations by developing, implementing and managing Automation Solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong programming/scripting background.
- Automation Solutions Development: Gather requirements, Design, implement and manage automation solutions to modernize security operations.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve existing security processes and workflows using automation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with various stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure automation solutions align with business objectives.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation and reporting for all SOAR activities and incident responses.
- BAU management: Respond to BAU incident across clients relating to automation and respond within SLA.
Required Skills
- Scripting and Automation:
- Proficient in python scripting or equivalent (e.g. PowerShell, Bash)
- Ability to understand business requirements and engineer technical solutions to meet the requirements
- Hands on experience in DevOps and Agile methodologies
- Linux and Cloud: Ability to operate in Linux operating systems and aws cloud environments
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Able to drive technical workshops, brainstorming sessions on security automation solutions.
- Project Management: Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of organisation.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead initiatives.
Desirable Skills
- Cloud: Familiarity with cloud tools and environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Machine Learning: Understanding of machine learning techniques and their application in security.
- Vendor Management: Experience in managing relationships with third-party vendors.
- Security Knowledge: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and security frameworks, such as MITRE.
- General knowledge of handling security incidents, triage, containment/response action, eradication, and recovery actions from end to end.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience in software development, Security Engineering, with at least 1-2 years focused on python.
