Position Summary

Odyssey Systems is seeking an experienced Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support cybersecurity and information assurance (IA) efforts for the HNJ Program at Hanscom AFB. The ISSE will lead the coordination and development of Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) documentation in compliance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DoD IA policies. The candidate will serve as a cybersecurity SME within the Program Management Office (PMO), supporting system development, integration, and test activities with a strong emphasis on security architecture and risk mitigation planning.

Responsibilities

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.

 

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Lead the coordination and authorship of RMF-based A&A documentation and packages.

  • Support the design, development, implementation, and integration of secure IA architectures for PMO systems.

  • Serve as the cybersecurity SME for the PMO, advising on IA security protections and compliance requirements.

  • Assist in the development and tracking of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) for mitigating security risks and findings.

  • Conduct technical and non-technical reviews of systems and participate in audits and assessments during development and testing phases.

  • Provide IA engineering input during system design, to ensure security controls are integrated and compliant with applicable DoD standards.

  • Perform vulnerability testing and ensure remediation aligns with security policies and the system’s authority to operate (ATO).

  • Support Government contract proposal efforts as the IA/security engineering subject matter expert when applicable.

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

Education: BA/BS degree and 15 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, of which 5 years must be in the DoD,

  • OR 20 years of directly related experience, of which 8 years must be in the DoD.

Certifications: 

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • DoDD 8140 IAT level II or higher
  • SAP/SAR experience required

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Advanced degree (MA/MS) and 10+ years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, of which 5 years must be in the DoD

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of DoD IA policies, RMF, and related security frameworks

  • Experience with system security engineering across various platforms and environments

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity risk assessments, POA&M management, and vulnerability scanning tools

  • Experience integrating IA into software/hardware lifecycles

  • Skilled in evaluating vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate technical mitigations

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong communication skills; able to author and present technical documentation

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineering, cybersecurity, and PMO teams

  • Effective at briefing senior leadership and contributing to decision-making processes

Location: Hanscom AFB, MA

Travel: May be required at the customer’s discretion
