Job Description:
Note: This position is a term position for 2 years.
Reporting to the Manager, Service Delivery and Operations, the Infrastructure Analyst will be responsible for providing technical expertise on the effective use of AltaLink’s existing operational technologies. This position will be responsible for monitoring, measuring, and sustaining IT infrastructure. This includes providing input and recommendations on how to operate existing solutions and for future technology roadmaps representing IS Operation’s needs. This position will require technical capabilities, developing and implementing new processes and procedures, working with vendors in the support of third-party applications, and collaborating with others.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise and support on the effective use of AltaLink’s existing infrastructure technologies.
- Support forecasting and planning of the compute, storage, virtualization, power, and networking needs for multiple data centers. Coordinate day-to-day needs of the data center.
- Remediate issues throughout corporate infrastructure (compute, virtualization, storage, data protection, Microsoft suite, hybrid cloud, etc.). Support corporate infrastructure reporting and audit as required.
- Install, configure, and deploy out-of-the-box third-party solutions, security patches, cumulative updates, and custom solutions as needed.
- Provide input and recommendations on the use of existing and future technology roadmaps.
- Collaborate with other technical disciplines to effectively troubleshoot technical issues.
- Establish effective working relationships with internal business partners and vendors.
- Establish new processes and procedures in support of technology sustainment, configuration and Change Management.
- Support the design, testing, and implementation of the disaster recovery plan. Including participating in disaster recovery exercises as required.
- Perform updates to procedures, processes, and other forms of documentation.
- Provide technical expertise and support to incidents via ticketing system.
- Ensure technologies are available and understood with the Plan and Build teams to ensure effective and efficient Transition to Operations (TTO) occurs for each solution implementation.
- Perform remediation of system performance, usage activity reporting, storage management and governance activities.
- Participation in technical support to incidents, technical reviews, configuration management and change management as required.
- Other Operational/Infrastructure related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Industry recognized certifications such as CISSP, ITIL, Microsoft, CISCO, or DELL would be an asset.
- Minimum three (3) years’ related experience, including at least one (1) year experience in Infrastructure administration at an enterprise level (e.g., installation, platform configuration, content migrations, backup, and restoration).
- Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Azure / Azure Active Directory, M365 Suite, CA’s, NPS, RDS, SCCM
- Experience with Citrix Netscaler, VMWare, VxRail, Hyper-V virtualization technologies, Dell/EMC Data Protection Suite (software and hardware).
- Skills with SolarWinds, ServiceNow , Varonis Suite, Carbon Black, CyberArk and network devices such as Cisco and Palo Alto are assets.
- Knowledge of IS security principles and best practices.
- Proven ability to multi-task, and to organize and adjust priorities.
- Proficient in developing and presenting technical details to management.
- Hands-on experience with issue management, resolution and troubleshooting.
- Experience with designing/documenting and implementing processes and procedures.
- Experience with ITIL practices in particular Change Management, Incident Management and Problem Management.
- Effective problem solving, communication, documentation, and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes.
- Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
