We are currently seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic Technology team in Minneapolis, MN.

This person would work directly with the Director of Network and Voice Management.  As a Network Engineer at Piper Sandler & Co., you will be responsible but not limited to, designing, implementing, managing, and monitoring our network infrastructure.  You will ensure the stability and security of our network systems, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with other teams to optimize network performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain network solutions (LAN, WAN, wireless) and hardware (routers, switches, firewalls)

  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance to ensure optimal operation and manage network security measures (firewalls, VPNs)

  • Collaborate with IT and other departments on network-related projects and document network configurations and procedures

  • Partner with vendors to understand future technologies and lead the production and maintenance of processes, procedures, and documentation

  • Participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation and maintenance activities, providing IT management escalations to resolve outstanding issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • An Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience demonstrating proficiency in network engineering, system administration, or IT support roles

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role

  • Understanding of network fundamentals (IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP) with experience performing routing and switching within Cisco environments

  • Proficiency in network design and infrastructure, including selecting hardware and determining network topology

  • Network Security and Infrastructure: Experience with network security measures (firewalls, VPNs) and provisioning/maintaining network hardware and software

  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Proven analytical abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience in problem/incident management and troubleshooting within a technology operations environment

  • Leadership and Communication: Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Understanding of Infrastructure cabling, firewalls, load balancer’s, switches, routers, and SDWAN technologies

  • Ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously with great attention to detail, urgency, focus and discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, or equivalent is a plus

  • Experience with cloud networking and services (e.g., AWS, Azure)

  • Familiar with Cisco Catalyst Center and Cisco Meraki Dashboard

  • Experience using Service Now for Incident/Change/Problem Management

  • Familiarity with automation and scripting tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell), along with experience in automation platforms such as Ansible, Terraform, and XSOAR

  • Knowledge of the following Network technologies:

    • F5 Experience in the following: LTM and GTM

    • Palo Alto Firewall experience

    • SolarWinds Orion and Datadog

    • Cisco ISE, network access control and Network segmentation

    • Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN)

    • Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)

The anticipated starting salary range for Minnesota - based individuals expressing interest in this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, location and other factors. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be a part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
