  • Duration: Fall (September 2025 – December 2025; 4 months)
  • Location:  Victoria, BC 
  • Salary: $1,873.69 bi-weekly (for students working towards a diploma or bachelor’s degree) or $2,200.99 (for students working towards a post-graduate degree).
  • Grant: As part of our inVESTED scholarship program, you may be eligible for reimbursement up to a maximum of $1,000 per four-month work term to cover the cost of co-op work term tuition fees.
  • Hybrid Work Model: You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for in-office presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month. Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.
  •  Skills for Success Program: Engage with other co-op students in a monthly virtual event designed to build connection and community while developing skills to support your success.
  • LinkedIn Learning: During your time working here, you will have 24/7 unlimited access to over 16,000 online courses to help support your personal, educational, and professional goals.
  • Team: IT Security is responsible for security assessments, access controls, incident investigations, and security bulletins, in addition to:
    • Security policy and procedures
    • Security Threat and Risk Assessments
    • Author security bulletins
    • Monitor event logging
    • Validate system security controls
    • Lead incident investigations
    • Hardware and software configuration requirements

Job Responsibilities

As a Junior Security Analyst, you will be a part of the Information Security team. As a skilled communicator with a service oriented, analytical, detail-oriented, results-focused, and committed to continuous learning mindset, you are eager to help us during your co-op term with information security related items (including but not limited to):

  • Responding to alerts generated by a number of security monitoring tools
  • Working with various internal teams to troubleshoot security issues
  • Assisting with the remediation of security vulnerabilities identified through vulnerability scans
  • Assisting senior analysts in handling security incidents
  • Tracking vulnerability notifications and initiating actions for remediation 
  • Designing and executing various security awareness activities
  • Preparing security awareness articles and posters on various relevant topics
  • Analyzing suspicious e-mails reported by our employees
  • Assisting in the development of security reporting and metrics
  • Monitoring various shared mailboxes for incoming questions and requests
  • Updating and documenting various operational security procedures and diagrams
  • Reviewing and updating security related asset inventory
  • Review configuration settings in our Cloud infrastructure

  • Demonstrate effectiveness in tracking and monitoring attacks against corporate systems and how to prevent them
  • Demonstrate principles of confidentiality, availability, and integrity of data
  • Demonstrate proficiency in assessing enterprise security risk and formulating technical recommendations
  • Attain an ability to communicate security principles effectively with a range of audiences

Requirements

This opportunity is available to 3rd or 4th year Computer Science, and Software/Computer Engineering students and graduate level students studying Computer Science/engineering or related fields.

Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas would be an asset:

  • Azure
  • MS Defender
  • Advanced Threat Protection (phishing campaigns)
  • Threat / Risk Analysis
  • Intrusion Prevention / Detection Systems
  • Enterprise Firewalls
