Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 5 years of experience managing a team of engineering or security operations professionals for a distributed organization.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Go).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with identity management in enterprise environments.
  • Experience developing new security controls across systems and environments.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders and partner teams to design common objectives and create roadmaps that ensure security objectives are met.
  • Ability to break down large complex technical programs to create discrete projects and short, medium and long term engineering goals.

About the job

The Enterprise Identity Protection Team manages Identity risks for Alphabet including how we onboard, authenticate and ensure that only the right folks gain access to the sensitive data we manage at Google. That means how we use physical security tokens, badges, trusted platform modules, single sign on, identity verification and biometrics across all our environments, but also with all our Third-party connections including SaaS, Bets and Acquisitions. The work here controls the daily experience of every Googler (and also the daily experience of the many nation state attackers trying to gain access to Google). In addition the team partners with internal teams on hardware development, with external standards bodies on improving them with major vendors on new innovative solutions. This role manages a team that is currently delivering against one of Google's board visible cybersecurity risks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of security engineers responsible for Enterprise Identity.
  • Inspire, grow, and develop talent while providing goals and setting direction for the team. Lead effectively through outcomes rather than tasks.
  • Drive a technical and engineering strategy to manage risk in Enterprise Identity, in particular Accounts and Identity Assurance.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and security leadership skills, developing and managing partnerships across organizations, and leading engineering efforts that cut across many systems.
