Principal Cyber Security Engineer

Who We're Looking For

This position is responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, and supporting security implementations. These security implementations must be developed and maintained with high-quality standards and minimal defects. This role will also act as a mentor and leader to other teammates and as a support for management.

Scope of the Role:  

• Direct Reports:  This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Designs, analyzes, and documents security applications. 

• Investigates and analyzes verbal and written requests for application security, interpreting application requirements to construct highly complex applications. 

• Writes technical documentation for routines and applications, facilitating their maintenance. 

• Constructs, tests, installs, and maintains security applications. 

• Develops highly complex security controls and principles, which is maintainable, easy to use, and satisfies implementation requirements. 

• Develops and executes security test plans, analyzes test results, and makes appropriate revisions to ensure the applications function as specified. 

• Contributes to the planning for acceptance testing and implementation of new security framework components, performing supporting activities to ensure that customers have the information and assistance they need for a successful implementation. 

• Provides support to internal users and support staff. 

• Leads investigates application incidents for missing or incorrect functionality. 

• Assess incident resolution and estimates application changes. 

• Applies resolutions, leading to timely, error free revisions in applications. 

• Leads configuration management tasks. 

• Works with and in some instances provides work direction to our vendor partners 

• Support management in ensuring team achieves goals and opperates withing framework 

 

 

Experience, Education, and Certifications:

• 8++ years of Cyber Security Engineering Experience 

• Bachelor's Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science or a related field  

• Certificaitons such as CompTIA Sec+, CompTIA Net+, CISSP, CISA and/or CFE, or GIAC  

• Strong platform knowledge (Tandem, UNIX, Windows, Network devices, Mainframes, SQL, Radius)  

• Database knowledge (Access, Oracle, MySQL)

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

• Constant improving mindset and ability to identify repetitive processes and automation opportunities  

• Innovative and creative when solving issues  

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision   

• Basic knowledge of multiple security frameworks 

• Experience with relevant operating systems and communication interfaces 

• Basic knowledge of security design and testing principles 

• Knowledge of log aggregation and event correlation strategies 

• Background in the telecommunications industry desired
