Workplace Arrangements:
This role will follow a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. Applicants for this role can expect to work on-site from our Ottawa Head Office, on Walkley Road 1-2 times/month on an 8-5 schedule and participate in an on-call schedule afterhours and on weekends.

Giant Tiger is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our IT team, with a strong background in system administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining core infrastructure systems that support store operations, including servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems and identity management.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring high availability, security, and performance of IT infrastructure across our retail locations, warehouses, and corporate offices.
What You'll Be Doing:
Manage and maintain IT infrastructure, including Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and networking.
Administer and support enterprise databases, including Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server, ensuring performance, stability, and regular maintenance.
Support IT systems across retail stores, warehouses, and corporate environments.
Configure and manage Active Directory, Azure AD (hybrid), DNS, DHCP.
PKI infrastructure support and digital certificate management to enhance secure access and authentication.
Perform regular updates, firmware upgrades, system patches, and health checks across on-premises and virtual infrastructure.
Participate in after-hours and weekend work as required, including on-call support rotation.
Monitor system performance, availability, and security; identify and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and incident resolution.
Collaborate with vendors, internal IT teams, and business stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues and support technology initiatives.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in IT infrastructure management and technology.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure systems engineering or system administration.
Experience working in retail IT environments with distributed store systems would be an asset.
Strong technical knowledge in:
Windows Server and Linux distributions (RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu)
Enterprise compute, VMware virtualization and storage technologies (HPE Synergy, NetApp, IBM Storage)
Networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, TCP/IP
Backup and disaster recovery tools (e.g., Cohesity)
Azure Active Directory, Active Directory, MFA, SSO, SSPR in hybrid environments
Administration and support of Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server databases
PKI infrastructure and certificate lifecycle management
Familiarity with incident management, monitoring tools, and IT documentation best practices.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and high availability requirements. Work independently.
Knowledge of cloud computing platform (e.g., Azure, GCP) would be an asset.
Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, RHCA, VCP, CISSP) are a plus.
