URM Stores, Inc. is looking for a Cyber Security Intern with a solid foundation of Cyber Security principles and procedures, and who is eager and willing to learn, switch gears quickly, and be comfortable expanding one's knowledge base. This internship will be a 3 to 6-month program that could lead to a permanent position, but this is not guaranteed.
This is a paid internship ($16.66/hour) and perfect for a current student studying Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cyber Security. We can be flexible around your school schedule as long as you can be available anytime between the following window: Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Purpose:
Our IT internships are focused on the basic duties and projects for the abilities of a Security Analyst. We want to help prepare you for future opportunities and hope that you’ll bring us enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and positively contribute to our culture.
Education:
Currently seeking or recently obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. For current students, we prefer a Senior Status.
Desired skills & Experience:
Ideal applicants have a growing knowledge of how to apply principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design & production of various goods and services.
Proficiency or Experience in the following is desired:
- Work in concert with senior IT peers to implement, manage, and maintain security applications and infrastructure in the URM customer WAN and enterprise network.
- Configure, manage, and monitor network and security infrastructure in accordance with industry best practices.
- Participate in the evaluation, deployment, integration, and configuration of new networking and security solutions in the URM architecture.
- Implement firewall rulesets and policy configuration in accordance with internal standards and industry best practices.
- Monitor, review, and tune SIEM activity to identify security events and incidents.
- Assist in the evaluation, implementation, and management of URM’s current and future security applications.
- Assist in the investigation of security events and incidents in collaboration with the URM security team.
- Utilize both open-source and commercial toolsets to conduct internal penetration testing and scanning.
Software:
Malware protection software, Firewalls, VMWare, Microsoft AD, Office 365.
