Avint LLC is seeking a mission-focused and technically proficient Cyber Security Engineer II to support the protection and compliance of enterprise and operational technology (OT) systems in a high-impact Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This role is ideal for a cybersecurity professional who thrives in hands-on work, collaborating closely with IT, engineering, and operations teams to strengthen cyber defenses and ensure system integrity.
As a Cyber Security Engineer II, you will play a critical role in maintaining the security posture of virtualized and physical infrastructure by performing vulnerability management, system hardening, and security control implementation. You will also support compliance initiatives such as RMF, NIST 800-53, and DISA STIGs, contributing directly to audit readiness and risk reduction.

Responsibilities
- Administer and support Nutanix Hyperconverged virtualized environments to ensure secure and continuous operations of FRCS Monitoring systems and applications.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain the Cyber Monitoring Services OT Monitoring Platform in both testing and operational environments, including Central Store, Site Store, and networked sensors.
- Utilize and manage SQL databases and Microsoft Server environments to support cybersecurity operations and system integrations.
- Perform cybersecurity compliance activities using the Marine Corps Certification and Accreditation Support Tool (MCCAST v2) in accordance with USMC standards.
- Apply networking expertise within Department of Defense (DoD) environments, ensuring secure communication across classified and operational networks.
- Understand operational technology (OT) infrastructure, including high-voltage systems, water/wastewater facilities, and mechanical control systems, to assess and secure critical infrastructure.
- Administer Unix/Linux and Windows systems, ensuring adherence to TCP/IP networking principles and secure access control policies.
- Operate and maintain Host-Based Security System (HBSS) in support of endpoint security initiatives.
- Manage and secure Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems used in critical facility environments.
- Apply knowledge of USMC DEVSECOPS policies to support the security of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and OT operations.
- Implement and support ICS platforms, including Metasys, Niagara AX, Alerton, Honeywell, Trend, KMC, American Automatrix, Loytec, Rockwell, and OSI systems.
- Configure and maintain building automation and SCADA protocols including BACnet/MSTP, BACnet/IP, N2, LON, High Voltage SCADA, and Water/Wastewater SCADA systems.
- Conduct software security updates, system patches, and version control on platforms such as Metasys, Niagara, Itron, Honeywell, Rockwell, and OSI.
- Navigate the USMC Assessment & Authorization (A&A) process, including MCCAST 2.0, RMF, DFIA, and CNSSI 1253 compliance.
- Develop, manage, and track Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to remediate identified security findings.
- Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to harden systems and reduce cyber risk.
- Interpret and implement NIST 800-53 controls and DoDI 8510.01 policy guidance across IT/OT environments.
- Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments, producing actionable mitigation strategies to enhance security posture.
- Utilize and maintain Dragos platform monitoring tools to support threat detection and response in OT networks.
Requirements
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant IT/system administration experience supporting virtualized environments, networks, and OT systems.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance required.
Certifications:
One or more of the following certifications (or equivalent) are highly desired:
- Cyber Monitoring Services Platform Certified User Certification
- ITIL v4 Foundations
- ICS-VLP Certificate (Courses 210W-01 through 210W-10)
- Risk Management Framework (RMF) Training – USMC specific
- Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- CompTIA Security+ (Sec+)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Microsoft Certifications (Server, Azure, or related)
