Position Summary 

We are looking for a Platform Security Engineering Manager to lead a team dedicated to securing our platforms and products. In this role, you’ll oversee the implementation of security certifications, architecture, and vulnerability management while driving both short-term initiatives and long-term improvement strategies. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and help shape the future of platform security. This is a unique opportunity to lead in a fast-paced environment where security and innovation go hand in hand.

This position is responsible for supporting the evaluation and execution of current and future security projects within F5 PlatSec USA.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide direction for the US-based Platform Security team to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Estimate project scope and support teams with resource planning and execution strategies.
  • Collaborate across multi-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of security initiatives and successful project outcomes.
  • Foster growth within a team of security engineers, developing the team’s technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
  • Engage with stakeholders and customers to resolve escalations and architect solutions to challenges.
  • Uphold the company’s ethical standards, policies, and procedures, while promptly addressing any violations.
  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
  • Acts as an advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • Ensures milestones are being met; monitor, track and make visible
  • Take ownership of additional responsibilities as required, adapting to evolving business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of product security initiatives, encompassing areas such as SSDLC, security architectures, and vulnerability management.
  • Hands-on experience leading and growing high-performing teams of Security Engineers.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a balance of technical expertise and strategic thought.
  • Effective collaboration skills, enabling success in fast-paced, dynamic environments that are geographically diverse.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal, including contributions through whitepapers, presentations, or publications.
  • A consistent record of fostering teamwork, promoting ideas, and successfully influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Recognized as a trusted technical leader and subject matter expert in key areas of product security.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard business hours or travel (approximately 5%), as business needs require.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline—or equivalent experience.

One or more security certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, GSEC, Security+, CISM, CEH, or OSCP is preferred.

At least 7+ years of experience in software development with a focus on security.

2-3 years’ experience in leading or managing engineering teams in security or software domains.

The annual base pay for this position is: $157,904.00 - $236,856.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
