The Data Protection Lead is responsible for the design, deployment, engineering, and continuous improvement of the organization’s data protection technology stack. This role works closely with the Data Protection Service Lead and Sr. Data Protection Analyst team to ensure that data protection technologies are optimized and aligned with regulatory and business needs. Additionally, the Lead will supervise a team of 3-5 Data Protection Analysts within the ZICC.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Percent of Time
• Design, Configuration & Maintenance
o Implement changes and maintain the organization’s data protection technology stack, including network, endpoint, email, and cloud solutions.
o Evaluate solutions and recommend enhancements to improve detection and performance.
o Implement patches and upgrades to ensure the data protection environment is secure and up to date.
o Manage policies, rules, and system configurations.
•   Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting
o Monitor system health, scalability, and performance to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
o Investigate complex technical issues, determine root cause for errors, and implement long-term solutions.
• Alert Handling, Incident Triage & Escalation
o Monitor data protection dashboards and alert queues for policy violations or anomalous activity.
o Conduct preliminary analysis on triggered alerts and apply standard operating procedures to determine severity.
o Validate alerts, gather relevant logs or evidence, and escalate incidents when necessary.
o Document incident details clearly in ticketing or incident management systems.
• Documentation, Knowledge Transfer & Policy Awareness
o Maintain comprehensive documentation on system configurations, architecture diagrams, and implementation details.
o Maintain understanding of basic data protection policies and procedures.
• Provide feedback on policy effectiveness based on recurring alerts.
• Supervise team of 3-5 Data Protection Analysts within the ZICC. 100%

Approximately 3-5 ZICC colleague members of the ZICC InfoSec team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
• University Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is required
• MS or advanced identity courses or other applicable certifications is desirable, including
o Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Experience:
• A minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in Information Security focusing on data protection systems design, administration and optimization.
• Expertise in Netskope CASB and Symantec DLP.
• 2+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or other regulated industry, especially Animal Health.
• Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones.
• Demonstrated ability to work within diverse technical teams.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS• High level of proficiency in data protection tools (e.g., Netskope, Symantec, Microsoft, etc.).
• Extensive knowledge of Windows, macOS, and/or Linux environments.
• Familiarity with SIEM products, ticketing systems, and incident response workflows.
• Ability to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs) and malicious behaviors.
• Capable of driving root cause analysis and coordinating remediation.
• Personal or professional experience in staying up to date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices.
• Pharmaceutical or other regulated industry experience is desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must be fluent in both written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 Availability to work between 1pm IST to 10pm IST hours (minimum 3 hours of daily overlap with US ET Time zone)
