POSITION SUMMARY
The Information Security Specialist is vital in safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data within the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) and the STATEFARM programs. This position provides cybersecurity expertise supporting classified and unclassified environments, enabling secure software deployment, data protection, and regulatory compliance. The role is instrumental in evaluating cybersecurity postures, implementing RMF controls, responding to vulnerabilities, and supporting continuous monitoring initiatives.
Working closely with the Zero Trust Architect, DevSecOps engineers, system administrators, and government cybersecurity personnel, the specialist will manage system security controls, support developing and reviewing System Security Plans (SSPs), and assist with Security Analysis Reports. The specialist monitors network and user activity, enforces policy-based access, conducts vulnerability analysis, and contributes to POA&Ms, waivers, and exemption packages. This role ensures compliance with DoD cyber requirements while addressing emerging threats and maintaining system resiliency.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain cybersecurity frameworks following the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Develop and update System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Analysis Reports, and associated RMF documentation for DCGS and STATEFARM systems.
- Design and enforce access control policies, user authentication procedures, and network monitoring protocols.
- Conduct assessments of system security controls, supporting functional and control testing in classified and unclassified environments.
- Respond to Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNOs) with detailed justifications for compliant/non-compliant status and related technical actions.
- Ensure proper PMO coordination and third-party software/hardware approval before use or system integration.
- Analyze system logs, vulnerability scans, and network configurations to verify compliance and detect anomalies.
- Automate cybersecurity operations through scripting and develop logic diagrams showing security boundaries.
- Assist with incident response, disaster recovery, and implementation of mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a point of contact for cybersecurity-related user support, policy questions, and technical security issues.
- Participate in cybersecurity meetings and briefings with the STATEFARM Program Manager and DoD stakeholders.
- Support integration and deployment of secure software builds and technical refresh activities.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Information Assurance or Cybersecurity Engineering.
- Required Certification: IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+)
- Preferred Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CEH, or other DoD 8570-compliant certifications.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or RMF compliance within a DoD or intelligence community environment.
- Strong background in developing RMF documentation, managing system security controls, and responding to cybersecurity audits or assessments.
- Hands-on experience with system hardening, vulnerability analysis, and cybersecurity operations in a classified environment.
- Familiarity with automated security toolsets and network intrusion detection/response processes.
- Experience supporting secure software development, implementation, and testing cycles preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficient in writing and interpreting RMF documentation, SSPs, and system-level security plans.
- Skilled in technical writing, risk analysis, and communicating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to write scripts or develop tools to automate system security tasks.
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity frameworks, TCNO processing, and secure configuration baselines.
- Effective at managing multiple priorities while maintaining regulatory compliance and system availability.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to use a computer and related equipment for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is an on-site position that requires work to be performed onsite at a government location in Warner Robins, GA.
- The working conditions for this position may include the following:
- Working indoors in an office environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.
- Must be able to pass random drug screenings.
- Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Must be cleared for base or site access.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be available for a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Position may require up to 20% travel, both CONUS and OCONUS, to government facilities for integration, testing, or collaboration.
Salary Range $77K-100K
