The Position:

Position General Summary:

The Information Security Analyst, Scholars Operations Center is a member of the Scholars Operations Center team, providing Tier 2 support to the Florida Scholars Academy program. The team supports students, teachers, and staff in  physical locations throughout Florida.

The Florida Scholars Academy program provides in-person instruction to incarcerated students at housing facilities managed by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. 

The Information Security Analyst, Scholars Operations Center will work during program business hours to analyze the usage of FLVS systems and respond to actionable findings. Additionally, the position will investigate reports of suspicious behavior and respond accordingly.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Attend daily team standup meetings
  • Respond to security incidents, working with incident response leads and subject matter experts to determine root cause and in creating a post-incident report
  • Provide daily reports of findings and remediations
  • Investigate and resolve incidents from users in ServiceNow
  • Review security event logs and alerts, escalating to engineers and management when necessary
  • Communicate updates to stakeholders regularly and respond to inquiries
  • Document new processes and update existing documentation
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others
  • All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established
  • Work during normally scheduled FLVS holidays with a compensating time-off schedule

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Associate’s degree in computer science or information systems or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • IT or Cybersecurity certification preferred

Experience:

  • 4 years of providing real-time support during business hours
  • 3 years of examining and responding to network appliance logs
  • 3 years of responding to security incidents
  • 3 years of utilizing remote support tools to provide troubleshooting
  • 1 year of implementing cybersecurity best practices based on policy documentation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):

  • Adapts quickly to change and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with threat-hunting methods and best practices
  • Understands the appropriate use of remote monitoring tools
  • Can prioritize multiple incidents and tasks efficiently while providing regular updates
  • Experience with FortiGate firewall and FortiAnalyzer interfaces
